Recent favorite... The Holiday with Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz. That movie just makes me smile whenever I watch it. I love Eli Wallach in it, too. And it's a rare movie to make Jack Black an appealing romantic interest (Jude Law makes more sense).
Ah, all of my favorites have been mentioned! Love Actually is my favorite, but it might be replaced by The Holiday--I'll watch The Holiday no matter what part I catch it at on TV. Also love Christmas Vacation and Better Off Dead ("I want my $2!").
TBS killed A Christmas Story for me. I still like it, but I only need 1, maybe 2 viewings. I still put it on as background noise.
Christmas is my season and I am a sucker for holiday movies. So many choices! National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is probably my favorite "contemporary" movie (I, like a PP, also quote this movie quite a bit). My favorite oldie happens to be Susan Slept Here. It's an old (1950s I think) movie with Debbie Reynolds and TCM only shows it once during the holiday season (and it isn;t available on DVD, sigh). Love the clothes, and all the goofiness of that movie.
Santa Claus Conquers the Martians is really, really bad. But I love to put it on and laugh my azz off at the cheesiness of it all. My pre-teen niece and nephew thought it was hilarious to turn the audio off and make up the dialogue! "Oh no! Timmy's turning into a Martian! He's green again!"
"Hooray for Santa Claus." is the cheesy theme song, too. Very 60s.

Well, I'm a big kid, so I love Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer (which I'm watching now) and The Grinch. Have never seen The Holiday, so I'll have to get it.
Re: Holiday poll: What's your favorite holiday movie?
Does "Better Off Dead" count as a Chrees-mas movie? If so, that's my pick.
I also love all the old classics, especially "White Christmas."
I'm a dork. I like National Lampoons Christmas Vacation. Two of my favorite scenes:
Y'know, cause I'm all sophisticated and stuff.
