Trouble TTC

ARC financing, anyone?

My RE is suggesting we move to IVF next, but we want to postpone that for a while.  One big reason is financial (we are OOP).  My RE offers a money-back guarantee program BUT I don't qualify due to my elevated FSH.  We will have to take out a loan to finance IVF, and I seriously can't imagine paying off a loan if we don't have a baby from it.  I don't think I'm willing to pursue IVF without the refund program.  SO, I may be switching to a new RE (which is sad, because I love my RE).

ARC will allow me to participate in their refund IVF program, as they have more generous qualification criteria.  There are 2 RE offices in my area that are part of the ARC network.

Does anyone have any experience with ARC?  I may be seriously considering this in the next few months.  TIA for any input!

Re: ARC financing, anyone?

  • I am currently using ARC and am glad that I did because  my first fresh IVF cycle just failed.  Using ARC gave me a peace of mind.  The rates are a little worse than taking out a personal loan, but better than doing a credit card.  The peace of mind is that I basically have a monthly payment that is set in stone that I know we can afford.

We did the 2 cycle plus, so we have 2 fresh and 2 frozen.  There is a kicker though, you have to use all of your frozen embies before moving to a fresh cycle.  So we have 7 frozen embies currently, we are currently doing an FET now and will be transferring 2 this time.  ET tentatively scheduled for this weekend.

If this doesn't work, our next FET's will be OOP, but considering they are about 15% of the cost of a fresh IVF it is easier money to try and come up with.  I will say that I had a good experience dealing with ARC.  They were friendly and very responsive to me.

Good luck with your decision.  Money was a huge decision for us and was very emotional to handle.  I am glad we went this way, but it may not be right for all people.  Let me know if you have any other questions about it.

Thanks for all this info!  I've been at work all day, but wish i could have responded sooner.  Are you doing the refund program?  Would you mind sharing how much the fee was to participate in the refund?  They require me sending in an application before giving me an estimate on the refund fee :(  (application costs $75!)

  • I just applied for the ARC program on Monday. They calle me that day and said they would email quotes to me by the end of the week. We are getting pricing on 1 IVF plus and 3 IVF plus 3 refund guarantee. We don't qualify for the other refunds but anyone qualifies for the 3 cycle plus.

The application does ask about FSH levels if I remember correctly.

  • I did get accepted into the refund program for it.  Once you apply, they will send you quotes on pricing and contact your doctor.  When you are filling out the application, don't worry if you don't have all of your exact numbers (FSH, follicle count, etc.) because your doctor will confirm it.

After you have applied, if you go with the program they do refund the $75 application fee.  It wasn't too long before I was refunded it.

As I mentioned I did the 2 cycle plus program.  The cost was about $7000 less than if I would pay OOP for 2 fresh and 2 frozen.  The kicker is of course if you get pregnant on the first or second time then you are out some money.  For us, it didn't work the first time, so it was good to use this program so far.

I am also glad I did it, because one way that you are not accepted into the program is if you already have a failed IVF cycle.  So if we didn't do this for the first time, I wouldn't be accepted into the program.

I dealt with a Danielle there and she was great.  They will also give you their email address if you ask for it and communicate with you that way.  That was easier for me because I work and I was able to send emails pretty quickly and get a response.

Let me know if you have any questions!
