what happens when i can't see my feet?

i was walking down the stairs from my apartment this morning to leave for the doctor, and i was wearing a big coat because it's freezing outside. the coat sticks out in a way that obscures my feet, and i realized that soon my belly will be big enough i can't see past it!
i'm pretty clumsy and i really need to see my feet when walking on stairs.
(the last thing i want to do is fall down the stairs!)

i also realized in the shower the other day that shaving certain areas will become difficult soon.

what else can i look forward to not being able to do?
any second-time moms have tips for the can't-see-past-my-feet stage?

  • Be really careful and step cautiously.  I once biffed on the sidewalk when my toe caught the curb b/c I couldn't see past my belly (when PG with #2) and wasn't really paying attention.  I luckily landed on my hands, but it was scary.  It's usually not such a problem as long as you don't rush and aren't trying to do 2 things at once.

Well, dang. I'm always rushing and trying to do two things at once. And I'm already clumsier right now - i recently fell on my face trying to pass someone on the sidewalk. I should start practicing slowing down (which means not always running late - not sure if it's possible).

  • I am worried about this, too. I'm a total klutz and am always watching my feet while walking! It doesn't help that it will be wintery soon with possibly snowy and icy sidewalks!

  • Oh noooo. I havent even thought about this. I am SO clumsy, I am going to be a mess when I cant see my feet!

I HAVE thought about the shaving thing. That could get interesting. And that is NOT something I am willing to ask hubby to help with.

PG brain + PG clumbsiness = bad mix

Add in PG exhaustion making you late for work and it's a recipe for disaster.

Try getting waxed. Then you won't have to worry about it.

  • I've been wondering if I'll still be able to tie my shoes?
