My big girl has asked Santa for a dollhouse for Christmas. I've been overwhelmed with the choices in researching, so thought I'd see if anyone here has real world advice or recommendations for me.
I want something that will grow with the girls, but I'm not willing to spend a car payment on a dollhouse. This one is in the lead right now...
Any thoughts?
Re: Dollhouse recs?
I love that one, too. But its huge. Have you checked the dimensions? Just make sure you have room for it
Ana White has the plans for that house on her site. Are you guys handy?

We are getting my niece the fisher price loving family grand doll house. If you don't get the super set it's about $75. It comes with 2 rooms of furniture, mom, dad and twins. You can buy extra people for it. There are also lots of extra furniture rooms you can buy. So other people are going to buy her accessories for it. A friend of ours has it and both their 4 year old and 9 year old play with it all the time.
We were going to get the super set that had 5 rooms of furniture but they've been sold out everywhere of the Caucasian family. They have them online now but it's less furniture and it's $150.
Sadly, no. I'll have to bribe DH just to help me put it together. And even then I'm sure profanities will be thrown around. :-)
Not crash your thread (which I'm watching for my own purchasing purposes), but check out the price difference:

Thank you, Kitty! My daughters love this stuff, and this will make their Xmas!
I love this stuff, and the size is much better, but every time I try to get DD to play with it at the toy store she walks away. I wish she liked it!
And I agree, these things are overpriced.
Yeeeah, I just did a tally of the cost of the townhouse with all the accessories pictured. It'd be around $300. Sigh.
DD has the loving family one. https://m.fisher-price.com/fp.aspx?st=7594&e=product&pid=44946&pcat=dollhouse
She still plays with it and it's fully furnished. I wish I could sell it to you because DD is starting to out grow it but the grandparents bought and would probably like for it to be passed on to my niece.
So one of the blogs I follow is taking part in a dollhouse design challenge: Making it Lovely. Evidently, several bloggers are participating.
I have noticed that she is buying her furniture, etc. from etsy. So, I just checked etsy and they have a dollhouse that would've thrilled me as a kid: here. It seems like there may be different sizes, it looked like there were different prices. Of course, I personally would need like a week to put that thing together.
Evidently that Victorian one was also linked in this round up of dollhouses. Dollhouses are expensive! It's really for the best that I don't have any nieces--my nephews build their own lego houses.
