Hiya,
I'm new posting to this board, although I did read some posts here this time last year awaiting the birth of my DS (med-free birth at a midwife-lead birth center). As part of my job I keep up with British medical journals and thought I would post some links to some recently published papers in the British Medical Journal (BMJ) that may be of interest:
The first article is about place of birth and concludes that the perinatal and maternal outcomes are the same following a planned birth at either a midwife-lead unit or doctor-lead unit for first-time low-risk mothers and for second time mothers the outcomes were the same for either a midwife-lead unit, doctor-lead unit or planned home birth. Interventions were highest in the doctor-lead unit.

The second article is about delayed cord clamping which concludes there is a benefit to delayed clamping (more than two mins after birth).

If you guys think it would be useful I can post links to new research every few weeks...? Also not sure how to make the articles clicky?
Re: New research on home births and delayed cord clamping
If you decide to post articles, I'll definitely read them! Also, the links are clickable, they just don't show that way when you're posting. Once posted you can click them.
I read the first article comparing the outcomes of MW led units and OB led units. It was very interesting, and just seemed to confirm many other studies.
The second article is also very interesting. To me it just makes sense that delayed cord clamping is more beneficial. Science Daily posted an article a few months ago about benefits of delayed cord clamping. I can find that one if you'd like.
yes, please keep posting!
