Thoughts on the Bumbleride Indie Twin Stroller?

My husband and I are overwhelmed at the thought of spending so much money on a double stroller, but I know it is the one thing we will use the longest out of all our baby equiptment.  We are looking into the Bumbleride and I wondered what people who have it think?  I use a single City Jogger right now for the child I nanny for and I really don't care for it, but any advice or reccommendations would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks so much!

PS I know the Bumbleride doesn't fit two infant carseats except for the Maxi Cosi (we are using the Britax Chaperones) I plan on using a double snap and go until they are out of the carseats. :)

Re: Thoughts on the Bumbleride Indie Twin Stroller?

  • i think the bumbleride is a GREAT stroller for twins.  I would have purchased it myself- but I needed the 3rd seat avail with the Valco Trimode twin.  I still lust after the Bumblerides :)

You can get them much cheaper on craigslist - i see them listed all the time - so many double strollers get listed in great condition b/c people buy them when tehy have a 2nd child- but then their older child doesn't want to be in a stroller much longer- then they sell them... us twin moms are the only ones who use them a lot :)

not sure which baby jogger you have - there are many types - I have the city Select and LOVE it - best stroller if you can only have one IMO... but I like to have something with large tires, too- hence, why i have a valco also.   The Bumbleride will not be great to use shopping/malls, etc - b/c SBS large strollers are a PITA to get around in spaces like that- but they are great for long walks, zoo, bumpy terrain, etc.  The BJ City Select is great b/c it's compact for a tandem, drives great, many options-  and can be used as a DSNG, too.  You could probably find one of those on CL, too.

  • I have the Bumbleride Indie Twin and LOVE it.  It offers the support we wanted (compared to the City Mini), and has a larger torso capacity (DH is very tall and we didn't want our boys to grow out of it too soon.  It is bulky and heavier than the others, but it is the price you pay for the stroller you like.  We have a minivan and obviously it fits just fine with extra space for storage.  Before then, I had an FX35, and it fit fine too... just enough room for a bag or two.  It fits through all standard commercial doors (as does all strollers).  It also drives awesome, and have become spoiled.  We have a Peg Perego Aria as a backup, and hate to use it now bc harder to drive.

For the infant seat stage, we purchased a SNG which was awesome (we got the PegPerego duo base, which from my understanding isn't sold regularly, just extra a store had on hand).  Those are super lightweight and fit in any vehicle.  They are just tougher to maneuver.

  • We're getting, as gifts, 2 snap n gos (the double one and then the double decker one).  So we're set for a while there.

We ARE planning on spending more on a good, long-term double stroller like the Bumble, though.  We're just going to save up for it while using the current one, and we'll probably get it used.  I am set, though, that it's a big investment in terms of it being used a lot!! :)

  • I own a fleet of Bumblerides - because I had such a positive experience with my Indie Twin.

It really is a perfect stroller if you think you are going to be outside walking a lot.  It's overkill for going to the mall, but it's great for navigating sidewalks.  The boys love it and we used it from day one with the carrycots (for walks, car rides we used dsng).

I now own 3 bumblerides.  Embarrassed

  • I want to marry my Bumbleride, that is how much I love it.  I bought it used off of ebay so I spent a little less (mine is a 2008 model if I remember correctly) and I absolutely love it.

Like OrangeSmoke said, it is overkill for the mall and things like that but I actually use mine in the mall anyway because my boys are so much happier in it than in our other crappy stroller.  It fits surprisingly well in stores and is so easy to maneuver that it works fine for me in the mall.  Of course, I can't fit between racks and stuff but it doesn't bother me.  It is a little bit of a pain to fold and unfold but it doesn't bother me enough that it stops me from using it even for quick trips.  I would keep an eye on craigslist and ebay (mine was a local sale so I didn't have to pay shipping - just had to go pick it up) and see if you can find a used one if you're open to that.

  • Thanks so much ladies! :)  These reviews will be very helpful in convincing my husband that they are worth the money!

  • I also have a bumbleride and think it's an awesome stroller.  It is so easy to maneuver.  Once you have that stroller, and then you try a cheapy stroller, there is just no comparison.

The only downfall is as others said, going through stores with racks.  It doesn't fit too well, and sometimes I wish it were just a bit more narrow.  That's why I'm considering getting the mountain buggy duet....although I know the seats are more narrow, but still think that my kids will still be comfy.

It's a great ride for off-roads....grass, gravel, etc.

I might sell mine for 625.

  • we found the Combi Double Sport on clearance yesterday at Babies R Us for $150 yesterday and were so excited. We bought it right there and took it off our registry.

You never know what's gonna be on clearance, it's not a bad idea to stop by there once a week to check it out.

  • I really loved my Bumbleride for walks and the park/zoo/aquarium, etc. It is comfy, looks great, and comes in lots of fun colors. It wasn't great for shopping because it is a bigger stroller and doesn't fit in stores very well, especially at the mall (prefer a tandem such as City Select for shopping).

Once my twins turned one, they got a wagon for their birthday and didn't want to sit in the stroller much anymore. We now use the wagon for outdoorsy stuff and sold the Bumbleride Indie Twin (kept the City Select for shopping when can't use wagon).  I sold my black 2010 in perfect condition for $400 on Craigslist. I have seen people try to sell them for $500-550 but that is WAYYY too much for a used one.

I agree, there are new 2011 ones on Ebay brand new for $600 with free shipping.  :)

    Thanks for the info!

  • I have the indie twin and loved it at first.  Now that the girls are older and rarely want to sit in the stroller, I would love to downsize and get something smaller.

I do use it at the mall and it fits perfectly through the doorway as long as all hands and feet are in the stroller adn you do not have a cup holder on the side.

Overall I am happy with the stroller but now I want something smaller.
