Does anyone or their DH work at NOV? Insurance Question.

My DH recently ended his contract position and was offered a fulltime position at NOV (National Oilwell Varco). I'm self employed, so we'll both be dependent on the insurance. Phew!

Thing is, I have PCOS and we will be TTC in the next 12-18 months, so infertility coverage is very important. From the plans we've seen only SOME infertility coverage is offered through their HMO plan. I've only every had PPO and POS plans before so I'm pretty nervous.

Does anyone have experience with their HMO plan?  Does anyone have experience with any company's HMO plan and how much of a pain is it to set up to visit your specialists?

    Which facility is your DH at? My DH just went from contract to direct at NOV, too at the Clay/Beltway 8 location.

    The insurance he took pays a tons of stuff so we have little to none out of pocket.. Let me have him dig up his paperwork and see if there isn't one like the one we picked that would cover the treatments. I would think it would be the same insurance regardless of location.

    Dh suggested talking to the NOV insurance rep. The way it reads...to us...is it may cover stuff if the PCOS is found to be the cause of the infertility. Then it is treated as any other condition. It's up for interpretation. Otherwise, it does sound like the HMO would be your only infertility option, limited as it is as well as more out of pocket than any of the other plans for visits and what's covered.

    You might be better off just doing the better plan...not looking at the infertility part and getting one of the savings plans instead for the treatments. Which, since you aren't looking to TTC for a year plus, you could do a regular savings plan for as well. it may be cheaper for you in the long run. Plus often, if the doctor knows you are paying cash/out of pocket they have payment plans or offer substantial discounts.

    I work for NOV. I had the HMO Plan and liked it, but the NOV plan is a little more in price, but way better. They will give you a book..... Go over each plan and see whats best for your family. I love the plan i have now and am so glad I switched. I switched so I could have the by-pass weight loss surgery and it paid 100%. True blessing.
