Babies: 9 - 12 Months

I don't know why,

but this post makes me stabby.

https://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/60671549.aspx

I had a c-section, and losing weight was the last thing on my mind.

I didn't even have a csection and the last sentence made me want to punch her in the clam.

I still haven't lost all the weight.  For whatever reason my body doesn't want to let got for these last 15lbs.

I was doing really well, eating right, getting in my exersice and I lost and then nothing...so I've been stuck here.  It doesn't seem to matter what I do or don't do. It's like fatass purgatory.

I was too, then I just started making excuses. I've still got about 15 pounds before I'm back to pre pregnancy weight.

Yuck, I've been there (pre-pregnancy), that sh!tty plateau stage.  It does end at some point, but it is discouraging.  ((internet hugs))

Thanks. It's just super frustrating. It doesn't seem to matter if I eat well and work out or eat like crap the scale doesn't budge. I would even be happy to see it go up so I would feel bad about eating junk.

Same here. I get annoyed with people that are anti c-section because they somehow phrase it to make it seem like you failed at something. You get a baby either route.

    This.

People are so ignorant. I had a c-section (not by choice), but whether I did or not wouldn't change my opinion on the fact that I could give 2 sh!t's how my baby got into this world...the fact that she is healthy and safe is all that mattered.

If you could give 2 shiits about it, then why are you so offended by her statement? I had a c/s and I really don't understand why people are so offended by people who want to use the term natural.

It amazes me how many women think they will walk out of the hospital with their pre-pregnancy body, or at least be back to that by their 6 week post partum body.

I walked out of the hospital weighing less than I did before I got pregnant. Now almost a year later, I've gained it back! That darn caring for a baby got in the way of keeping my post-partum body perfect, d'oh.

I have to agree with this. I don't find it offensive at all. It's not "natural." She's not taking a dig at people who had C sections, she's just a naive pregnant woman just like most of us were less than a year ago.

I mean really... raise your hand if you had a C section and you actually WANTED to. I know I didn't want one, but them's the breaks.

I'm not sure if any of this was directed at me or not... The silly "omg if I have a c/s I won't lose weight as fast" part didn't bother me.  I was offended when she had to add in the ignorant "ew that's not natural" part.

Me too.  Granted I have not dieted hardcore, but I have managed my portions much more diligently since I stopped BF-ing in October, and I have actually gained 5 lbs since I stopped doing that.  It sux.

I guess it was directed at everyone who gets offended when people say C sections aren't natural. Because... they're not natural. That is not an offensive statement. I don't even think she meant it like that either. It reads to me like she just would rather try for a natural birth. She didn't say "Ew."

It also makes me crazy that everyone is all, "oh you'll lose all the weight bfing". I didn't lose a pound 'til I stopped producing milk, no joke. I left the hospital 20lbs lighter and from then 'til I tossed the pump nadda.

I realize it's not actually natural, it's the way it's said with the stigma of being bad.  Like if someone said they had natural twins vs IVF twins, like the later is inferior.  It's just one of those things that drive me nuts.

I still don't really get it. C sections suck. Nobody WANTS a C section (except those weirdos who try to get elective Cs so they can maintain their vag appearance) Nowhere in that girl's post did she say "oh gross! C section!" She just said she doesn't want to have one.

I agree with you that people who try to shame those who had C sections for valid medical reasons are super a-holes, but I think having a problem with the original post is a result of some hangup or something.

  • I don't know why having a c/section would disqualify you from worrying about post-partum weight loss. Most pregnant women are at least mildly concerned about losing the baby weight. But I guess if you had a c/s, "at least my baby is healthy!!11!" seems to be the only thought deemed appropriate to express.

Generally when someone says "natural" regarding childbirth, they mean med-free and/or low-no interventions. Getting pumped full of drugs and cut open to remove your baby is neither of those things. It's not a value statement, it's just a fact.

Read your first sentence and go back and find where someone said anything even remotely close to that. You will be looking for a while because no one did. The fact is many women expect the weight to magically fall off and start looking to extremes in diet and exercise when it doesn't. Not a smart route after a surgery.

I think she thinks that people are mad at the linked OP for wanting to lose weight after a c/s, when she should "just be thankful for a healthy baby". Which is not what any one said. Although, I do think the linked OP comes across as ONLY being concerned with losing weight after a c/s, which is stupid.

While I'm looking for that you can look for where she said anything about extremes in diet or exercise. Simple question- is it harder to lose weight after a c/s? There's a whole lot of ASS

"I had a c/s and the last thing on my mind was weight loss" What else would that mean? I guess I'm just confused at what about the linked post would make the OP feel stabby.
