Can I have a babyshower?

Ok this is my 3rd child. my first 2 kids were boys and tore up almost everything baby. also we moved and the crib got broken in the move. all that stuff made it through 7 years. If this one is a girl do you think i can have a babyshower?? if its a boy i dont need clothes but i need alot of other things.

Re: Can I have a babyshower?

  • Yes you can have a baby shower, My BFF is throwing me mine for my 3rd daughter but there is a 5 year difference between my youngest and the baby so I have no baby stuff at all.

  • I don't see why not!  I hear all the time that there are no baby showers after you have your first baby --- I don't see a problem with getting a close friend or family member and saying, "Hey -- this is my dillema...I need stuff -- Throw me a baby shower!" haha!! I would TOTALLY do that!

  • IMO it depends on where you're from- around here it's not uncommon to have showers for second, third baby (even if the same gender) then again someone has to offer to throw you one.

With that said this is only my second pregnancy, but my third baby on the way and we're having a girl, I don't plan on having a shower- more than likely friends and family will want to get you a little something with or without having a shower. :)

  • For my friend's that had multiple children - we threw them "sprinkle" showers. . . not necessarily a full blown shower, but enough to cover the basics again.

I think sprinkles are a cute way to gather and celebrate.  People like buying the cutsie stuff, anyway, and if you still have the bigger basics you're pretty set.

Also, I see no problem with a girl baby in more boyish clothes!!  I have clothes set aside from my friend who had a boy, and I'm planning on using them no matter the sex of these babies!! :)

  • I don't plan to have another shower, but I did register for some stuff. I know MIL said they're buying our 2nd crib, since they bought us the first one, too. There are some clothes that we can re-use (some of the more gender neutral ones) from when we had DD, but it's a lot harder to put boys in more girly looking clothes! lol My DD sometimes wears more boyish clothes, but usually just around the house. If we're going out I make sure she's either in something girly or put a bow in her hair otherwise people think she's a boy and that annoys me. Thank you, hormones. lol

This. Around here, usually showers for subsequent children close in age (I see your youngest is only 2) are very small and more so diaper-based or something. The only large shower I went to for a subsequent child was someone pregnant after 9 years from her last.

It does annoy me though when peeple say, "I need stuff. I have to have a shower." It's your kid, people shouldn't be expected to provide for it.

i just realized that is what I sounded like and so did  not mean to. That's what everyone keeps saying to me. I will actually have it made with Hand me downs that SIL and a friend that just had a baby girl in Oct are planning on giving me. So technically I probably wont need a shower.

  • My BFFs are throwing me one. I have some stuff still, but purged my house of all clothes, etc I had saved for Cailin when I lost her. My shower for her was planned for the week after I lost her. Even if this were my 3rd in a row, I wouldn't have a choice...they would do it without me!

Lol, yeah i have two really close friends but they are not really friends with each other and I had to inform one to get in contact with the other one because she is supposably trying to throw me a surprise one. So they may want to get together and cut costs.

  • Where I am from and where I live, it is not okay at all to have showers for any kids after the first one.  Most people I know consider it gift-grubbing, greedy and tacky.

Yes, every child should be celebrated, which is what sip-n-sees, christenings/baptisms/bris celebrations and birthday parties are for if you feel the need to have a party.  A shower is to help you prepare for your child by showering you with the items you need.  If you have a child other than the one you're pregnant with, you'll have all the stuff you "need" and people tend to bring by baby gifts once the baby is born.

  • I don't see an issue with having a baby shower. I'm the only person in our fam(s) that hasn't had one with each child and it's only because I'm not a fan of the attention =0/

  • If someone offers then take it. Tacky to go around asking for one, but not tacky to take it when someone offers.
i wish i could be joking but my dad is the music teacher at a church so he owuld be mad. we had sex, all the time how bad i know but we dont want to wait and he said GREAT OH KAY! and I was really feeling the wets? down there- too embarsed to say- but he acted like man.
  • Yeah, I wish someone would offer to throw me another shower. My first one sucked. It's like they didn't invite ANYONE on my list. I had TWO friends at my shower. and 4 family members (DH's family. I don't have family in the area.) I was pretty upset when only 6 people were there and two of them were the hostesses. :(

  • my mother in law will probably throw one with or without me lol i just hope people show up ;)
  • I think we will have a little get together for this one, especially since she is a girl. Nothing big though, and I won't be registering for anything.
