Can he just have everything?

When I was preg, I was convinced that we should never have a house full of toys.

All "the baby" needed was a loving family, and SOME toys.  Fast forward to today.

It seems every toy I see, I think "He would love that one!"  "Great learning toy!" or  "That is a must have!"

From what I hear from the grandmothers, we may have to travel in a UHaul during the holidays just to transport all of the gifts home.

So much for my minimalistic attitude!  This certainly falls under the category of "What I said I would never do as a parent."  I love every minute Smile

Re: Can he just have everything?

  • We have bought 1 toy for LO so far, and yet her playpen and toybox are full. I've been reading "Simplicity Parenting" and really agree with his idea of primarily getting multi-purpose toys that the kids can use their imaginations with and not just fixed-purpose toys. I try to keep a majority of her toys in the toybox and then switch them out with those in her playpen occasionally to keep her interest.

  • I feel the same way. I've only bought DS two toys, and they seem to b overflowing. My MIL owns a store that carries baby items, so every month or so we get the newest cute thing. It's kind of nice, but I'm going to have to keep a close eye on it for the near future. I want to get a good organizational system in effect, and then periodically get rid of (donate- or store, as we are TTC again) the extras that are overflowing. I'm all for stimulating toys, but not when I'm tripping over them.
