Tip of the day, brought to you by belizeit

If you're driving a small car, don't drive illegally on the partially paved shoulder of a one lane road and then cut off a 24' dump truck. Because when you do, and then bring a civil suit saying the truck driver was negligent, the jury is going to go into deliberation and laugh their asses off at you.

I had to serve on jury duty last week, and this was my case. I feel bad for the lady because it was obviously very traumatic for her (car flipped and then hit a telephone pole) but really. I'm amazed that she ever considered that move to be worth the risk! Indifferent

  • Oh gosh.  Not surprising though since I'm convinced the DC area is full of horrible drivers... who have wacked out senses of right vs. wrong.  Don't even get me started =P

  • Yikes!  Lady doesn't sound like she was firing on all cylinders.  At least it wasn't a long deliberation!

    Totally.

Every day that we make it home without having an accident I am amazed. We've been commuting into the city for nearly 5 years now and it feels like we are on borrowed accident-free time at this point.

I'm convinced it's all the people who aren't from here originally and it just becomes this melting pot of driving cultures.

I grew up here and feel like I drive quite well but holy hell - every time I go out I come across at least one a$$hat driver!
