2nd Trimester

Headaches and peeing

In the last week I've started getting tension headaches daily, and in the last 2 days having to pee a lot. I never had the frequent urination or headaches with 1st trimester, is it normal to get these during 2nd trimester? I guess I can see the urination being more normal, but the headaches I thought were mostly a 1st tri thing. I checked both my blood sugar and blood pressure at work thinking maybe they were related to hypertension or GD, but both were normal. I see my doc on Friday, so I will certainly bring it up, but just wondering if anyone else is having these things during 2nd tri.

Re: Headaches and peeing

  • I did with my first DD. Not to scare you but, mine was caused by high blood pressure. Just talk with your Dr.

  • 2nd tri has caused lots of peeing. My headaches are the same sinus crap I get all the time.

  • It is pretty normal to get headaches all throughout your pregnancy. The best thing you can do to help them is Magnesium & water(which makes you pee!)

Trust me, I know how much of a pain it is to pee all the time, but that's normal. Your baby is growing & will be pushing on your bladder. Also, the baby is drinking the amniotic fluid & pees as well, which goes into your bladder as well. The only thing you can do to stop peeing so often is stop drinking water, which isn't healthy.

With my first 2 I got the point where I wanted a pee bag or diapers!! lol (of course I never got them!) I pee approximately every hour, but I drink 24 oz of water afterwards everytime...

  • Headaches and dizziness are common in second tri too. Just something we have to deal with. I know we aren't supposed to have caffeine but a couple acetaminophin (sp) followed by a Dr Pepper is sometimes the only thing that helps (other than sleeping). Ask your Dr anyway because it's always better to be safe about things but from what I've read, the headaches are just more results of hormone fluctuations.

  • The headaches can be cause by hormones. The placenta is taking over care of the baby and u are having hormones fluctuating which can cause headaches the urination is normal as your uterus is getting bigger and is against your bladder it only gets worse.

  • I was getting headaches every night for a while and then I figured it was eye strain!  Never had it before, but pregnancy can change the way your eyes work so I guess that played a part.  Since then I've been taking more breaks from the computer/TV and haven't had as many headaches!
