Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

New here, suffering 3rd loss

New here, suffering 3rd loss

Hello everyone

I heard about this board after searching for recurrent chemical pregnancies on Google. I hope that in the spirit of community some of you ladies will be able to help me figure this out.

Here is my history.

Successful pregnancy and birth of daughter 1- November 2005

Successful pregnancy and birth of daughter 2- March 2007

Conceived after trying for 3 months in January 2010. Started bleeding at 6 weeks, was told levels too low and slowly rising, and given Methotrexate to dissolve ectopic.

Conceived after 7 months of active trying only to have it end in a chemical at 5 weeks. Got my 'period' as normal.

Tried actively on baby aspirin regimen and no luck.

Has HSG test this cycle (November 2011) which showed no polyps, and tubes clear.

Successfully conceived this cycle, called doc at the first sign of positive pregnancy (she said to, to get me on progesterone suppositories immediately)- could not get a hold of her. Nurse called in prescription. Pharmacy said they needed doc to sign off on it. Doc was supposed to have called my insurance to verify things. Said that when she called there were 'too many phone options' so she hung up !!!!

Said that they faxed her papers to her office. Called and told her I didnt feel good, was cramping and felt I needed that progesterone ASAP, that I needed it on FRIDAY when I got my first faint positive (tests were getting lovely and darker daily)- she was unconcerned! even though Ive had two losses.

This morning after a restless night of cramping and unease, took a test. BFN :(. Or the hint of a line, extremely faint, not lovely and thick and pink like yesterday. Took all tests with FMU.

Am devastated...what now?

what do I do from now on? Change docs, for sure...I want to have another baby so badly, to complete our family. What is happening with me???

  • I am so sorry for your losses.  Have you consulted with an RE yet?  That would probably be the next thing to do in your situation.

Unfortunately I can't provide a ton of information on that as we have our first RE consult this week, but there are ladies here who have been through various testing for recurrent losses.

I also had a very uneventful first pregnancy and am at a total loss for what may be going wrong now.  I'm very sorry you are going through this as well.  You are not alone.

  • I don't have answers for you either but I wanted to say I'm so sorry for this loss and your previous losses.  I am upset at your doctor for you.  I can't believe she just hung up because there were too many options!  I hope you get your take home baby soon to complete your family.

  • I am really very sorry. I hope you can find a doctor that is willing to listen to and address your concerns. What a nightmare on top of the losses :(

  • I am so sorry for you losses.

If your doctor does believe in prescribing progesterone to help a pregnancy (many do not) then I would ask they would prescribe it NOW and then you would use it during the two week wait, even before you find out if you are pregnant or not.  That way, it's in your system when implantation occurs and would hopefully help you maintain a pregnancy.

Also, have you asked your doctor about repeat pregnancy loss testing?  I  know you said you had a HSG but did the doctor do any bloodwork?

Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

  • Im sorry for your losses. I just had my third loss earlier thos month too. It's awful for sure. (((hugs))) I agree with itsmevkb about getting on progesterone before you're pregnant. I take it starting at 7dpo each cycle I'm TTC.
