We are about to start a third round of antibiotics, this time something new, but I am frustrated that it's not working. Is there something my dr. could be missing/something else we could do?
My son had chronic ear infections and the only med that he could take was Cefdanir (I am probably spelling that wrong). He would still be on antibiotics and get another ear infection.
Sorry I am no help. We had to resort to tubes after 7 infections in 6 months.

Alright, thanks guys. Doctor hasn't said anything about that yet, I guess I will just hope that this new antibiotic clears things up.
I was hoping someone had experience with either eliminating foods or the chiropractor.
Also, our daycare provider said something like he couldn't come back until he has been on antibiotics for 24hours, DH lied and said he didn't get another round, but why would that be for an ear infection? It's not contagious.

The ear infection's not contagious, but the virus that causes it is.
Ear infections are caused by fluid being stuck and not draining from the sinuses properly. I kind of doubt eliminating foods or seeing a chiropractor will help that.

I have just read that some food allergies can cause extra drainage to cause extra fluid in the ears. Also, I read that being adjusted might drain the ears, just wanted to know if anyone had experience.
My cousin swears up and down about lavender oil as a home remedy for ear infections, but I've never tried it. I've also read hydrogen peroxide can work as a home remedy for ear infections, but when I looked it up it said not to use it in children.
I hope he feels better soon! If nothing else, make sure you give him yogurt or some other probiotic with this 3rd round of antibiotics. The stronger antibiotics can wipe out the good bacteria in his intestine and give him diarrhea.
Emmett had an ear infection that lasted for about 2 months. The only thing that cleared it up was tubes. We went through everything, he actually has one again right now but the tubes let it drain so he isnt in pain from it. Hope his clears up soon!

He eats lots of yogurt but thanks for warning me about diarrhea, bleck.
