boppy at night help

My LO would only sleep in the boppy when we brought her home and although it is not the safest it was what we all needed at the time. We keep her close so we feel she is safe but now I am anxious to start getting her in her crib. I would like to start transitioning her there during her daytime naps but she doesn't like sleeping on her back. She likes being propped up a tad...what to do? Will she just get the hang of it if I keep putting her in there or what to do?

  • Maybe use a wedge underneath the crib mattress, that way she is still propped up. Just an idea. My LO hasn't slept anywhere else except her crib and her swing since we brought her home from the hospital. She hates being on her tummy. But I think if you keep being persistent, she'll get the hang of it. Even if she does cry, just be persistent!

  • My LO was recently sick with a cold and we had to elevate her...we put a pillow under one end of her crib mattress...you may want to try that to give her some elevation (just stuck the pillow right under one end)...I also put her in her crib in the morning after getting her dressed (while I get dressed), I turn the mobile on and she watches it while I get ready...it helps her associate good things with being in her crib...

  • I have the same question! My LO LOVES sleeping on her tummy though if she can't have the boppy. I just think it's crazy that 25 years ago it was recommended for babies to sleep ONLY on their stomachs. Now they should ONLY sleep on their backs. Hmm. Interesting. I guess thats a pediatrician question.

  • I would do as pp said and put a pillow under mattress.  I wouldn't sleep baby in boppy though, I was doing that when I first brought DD home because thats the ONLY way she would sleep but one morning I woke up and she had worked her way down and had her face in the pillow.. needless to say that is the LAST time I did that.  I then started swaddling her and she sleeps perfect swaddled
