oatmeal/lactation ?

Ok so I am trying to increase/maintain my milk supply. I am already taking fenugreek, blessed thistle and drinking mothers milk tea. I have gotten about 1oz more per pumping session since starting that trio so I am happy about that. I am trying to start eating oatmeal to see if I can increase it anymore and I am wondering about making cookies...most cookie recipes call for quick-oats, which I know are not the ones that help with lactation. So I have purchased the "real" oats (steel oats) and I am wondering if I can simply substitute steel oats for quick oats or if this would somehow the cookie and require me to make other changes to the recipe so that they come out right....

any ideas??

Re: oatmeal/lactation ?

  • My oatmeal cookie recipe says you can use either old fashioned or quick cooking.  So I imagine you can substitute.  I'd just try it out and see how it goes.

  • I would think you'd have to make some changes since the density/texture is different?? I know I've seen recipes online for making oatmeal in the crockpot using steel cut oats....
