NBR Crafty/photo ladies come in:

As some of you might remember DH's dad passed away about 2 months ago. All that he asked for was a certain photo of his dad. I got the photo this weekend and he has no idea! It's a black and white 8x10. His mom also sent the racing jacket his dad was wearing in the photo. I want to do something special with it. Originally I wanted to have it painted, but since it's black and white I'm not sure how it will turn out. I'm also a little short on time. I thought about having it enhanced and a nice frame. The photo is at least 30 years old. Anything else I could do with it? TIA!

Re: NBR Crafty/photo ladies come in:

  • When you say you want to have it painted, do you mean have it replicated in a painting?

Depending on the photo, this might be a great option:  they are bi-chrome paintings rendered from photographs, and I think they are awesome.  I think it coming from a BW photo would be cool, and you could choose the 2 colors of the painting if you wanted something other than black and white...

  • Since you have the jacket I would suggest getting it framed in a shadow box and having the photo added in the shadow box with the jacket.  My sister did this with a hat my late brother had.

Hobby Lobby and Michaels can help with that.  Or you can do it yourself.  They sell the shadow box frames for jerseys and jackets etc.

This is what I was thinking.

  • Yeah, this is what I was thinking for the jacket as well. I had my husband's college football jersey professionally mounted in a shadow box as a wedding gift and he LOVED it. It looks amazing and although it was pricey ($300ish?), it absolutely looks professionally done and I would have NEVER been able to replicate the quality. I feel like with something that special, it's worth it to have it done right the first time.
