We went out of town for Thanksgiving and on Wednesday night when I went to the bathroom I was spotting bright red blood when I wiped. There wasn't any in my underwear, but I was pretty freaked out. I continued to wipe and it kind of tapered off. I continued this bright red spotting when I wiped through out the next 48 hours, it sometimes turned to a browner spotting, but then I was passing string like clots and small like tissue/clots. At this point I was really freaking out. I waited to go to the ER when we returned home Friday evening. They checked my cervix and it was closed, though they did see the blood clots and thought it just looked like old blood? The u/s showed one baby measuring 3 days ahead with a strong heartbeat. They are calling it a threatened miscarriage and have no reasoning for the bleeding. They suggested I make it into my ob this week. I was relieved by the u/s but I am still pretty freaked out. I never had anything like this with my previous pregnancies. I haven't spotted since Saturday morning. Anyone experience anything like this?

Re: My ER visit
I've been spotting/bleeding since Saturday afternoon. Very little makes it to the panty liner but it's all bright red with some clots. I go to the doc this afternoon for betas and we will talk about an ultrasound later in the week since I'm not quite 6 weeks yet. Glad to hear your baby is doing well and cervix is closed. I'm pretty freaked out and that gives me some comfort. Good luck with your ob appointment and keep us updated!
This sounds similar to what started happeneing to me on Tuesday, and the ER diagnosed it as a Subchorionic Hematoma. It's basically a blood clot that is in your womb, and is either reabsorbed by your body, or bleeds out. It isn't necessarily harmful to baby, unless it forces baby off the uterine wall when it bleeds out. If they didn't see anything on your U/S it could have completely bled out?
Not sure this is what you're experiencing, but it is a possibility! My OB's nurse has reassured me that it is quite common, and that it rarely results in miscarriage! GL to you!
