Hi Ladies. I'm new to this community and wanted to ask if anyone here has had any success with doing an injectable IUI cycle with MFI? My fiance has morph and motility issues and we've been trying for 2 years. He has 6 IUIs available on his insurance so we wanted to use them before moving on to IVF w/ICSI. Any success stories out there? Thank you for your feedback.

    First of all, welcome and good luck!  So sorry that you have a reason to be over here, but you will find many wonderful ladies with lots of wonderful advice whether you go through IUIs or ICSI+IVF.  However, if you want success stories I suggest you re-post part of this on PAIF/SAIF. 

    If the only issue is with your DH, you can also do a clomid+IUI rather than injectables... it's much much cheaper medication wise.  That is something you are your RE will discuss, though I'm sure.

    And read the newbie link at the top of the main page if you haven't yet.  I found it very helpful when I first moved over to this board.

    IVF#2 take two 10/2015 - 5 blasts frozen
    FET#4 12/11/2015 - BFN - 4 blasts remaining
    FET#5 2/18/16 - BFP!!!  Beta1-3, 126, 250, 745!!

    Hi, and welcome! 

    I agree about reposting on the other boards since most the ladies here haven't had success.

    We're MFI too, so I've done quite a bit of research on the topic although I don't have personal experience to share.  What I think is that it depends on how severe the MFI is as to whether to do the IUIs.  

    I would say that if you have at least 10 million motile sperm with at least 4% strict morphology, then IUI has a reasonable chance of working.  If not, then you could still do the IUI's, but it'd be <10% chance of working.

    If your fiance hasn't been to a MFI urologist, I'd recommend that as well.

    We too, are MFI.  But it's not too severe so we started with two cycles of clomid/IUI.  We will be moving onto injects/IUI for up to two cycles in Mid January before we look at the long road ahead for IVF.  There have been several success stories from our board with injects but they've moved on to PG after IF board or Success after IF board.  If your man's insurance covers up to six IUIs then count yourself lucky that you are not OOP on costs (like me, and many) and start seeing an RE to figure out what path they'd want you on.  But at the same time, you can't even use your fiance's insurance plan until after the wedding...correct?  It's good to get educated now before moving ahead but I think for now you are putting the cart before the horse.  Have a beautiful wedding and welcome to the board!
