Curious how we all choose to fund our shopping/splurging/ overspending habits.

I might still be half-asleep , but answers 1, 2, 5, and 6 seem similar to me - I read them all as you don't buy things on credit (either because you're filthy rich or because you save for or budget for things).
Saving for things and budgeting for things are kind of the same thing to me. . . So I might not be understanding
I go back and forth between put it on the card and pay it all off or put it on the card and figure out how to pay for it.
We've had a couple times where our cc bill has gotten away on us (like 1-3k that we don't have readily available) but something always comes through like a well timed tax return or another lucky break. We never go WAY up and over our limits though.

We don't use credit cards, period. It is cash or nothing. Keeps everything in check, because it is so easy for me to charge $120 bucks of not much of anything at Target, but much harder to pull out a $100 bill and hand it over.

I went special snowflake because I used to worry about how to pay for it later...well..now its later, and I have debt to pay down, so I never buy things now. boo.

This is me. I tend to be an impulse shopper, so if I only bring a certain amount with me, I have to think about what I need and not just get what I want. My H is the holder of the credit card - I have to go through him to buy stuff online or I would buy something everyday! I'm bad!!!
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

ps - if you are using credit cards on a regular basis, and NOT taking advantage of all the cash back, you're silly ;-)
We get over a THOUSAND DOLLARS back each year, between our MC and Amex. Gas & Groceries get us the most (up to 5%!!!) but we do put just about everything through our cards. (and pay off each month, except for freakish' things like IVF/boat, etc) Add up the annual fees - sometimes you get more cash back by paying them, and use the websites that help you compare cards. Many sort features, etc.)

Ditto this. We put everything we possibly can on our AMEX because of the ginormous check we get at the end of the year. We pay it off every month, so it is essentially using cash/debit in terms of budgeting for us, except we get a big ass check of cash back.
Brought to you by IVF, ICSI, limited fert, and oocyte cryopreservation. Because we're fancy like that.
Ya I was a few options as well. We don't use credit. If we can't afford it straight-up, we don't buy it. But I start shopping early November and spread my purchases out over several paychecks. That way it's not so overwhelming close to the holidays. DS's bday is also 12/2 (this Friday!) so we have to budget for that too!

another pro rebate CC person here! We have multiple cards to get the BEST rebates we can. So gas right now is much better with our AMEX,but last quarter it was better with the VISA.

Ditto, except I read #1 and #4 as kind of being the same thing. If you pay down each month, you're not really using credit. We buy EVERYTHING on Amex, not because we don't have the cash (I never buy anything that's more than I could pay for in cash right away) but because we like the points and having a single place where spending can be tracked. I haven't carried a credit card balance from one month over to the next since I was in law school (over 6 years ago).
Ditto schmoods. I use my SW Visa rapid rewards for everything, but pay the balance every month. I also have a Gap visa and get tons of rewards that way. But I'd never charge what we couldn't pay for from our checking account.
We're in the use credit cards for the rewards camp. Every purchase we make can be paid for fully in cash, but we typically use the card so that we can take advantage of the rewards, and then we pay the bill off in full every month. We use our rewards money to fund our family vacations.

This is us too for the most part. When we found out about the twins, I paid all my debt off (it wasn't very much) and am trying to pay cash from here on out.I don't need to splurge on anything since I can't get any cute jeans and I don't like buying shoes while pregnant.

Really?! I have to look into this. I use my AMEX and VISA cc for practically everything. I have never gotten a check from them. Do I have to sign up for a special service?

You have to have a specific cash back card. I'd give them a call!
