I just found out, holy moses what a Thanksgiving. I'm about 6.5 weeks, first OB appointment this week.
I just did a little snooping and it looks like there's a lot of veteran moms on here - I hope you don't mind being occasionally peppered with questions. I promise I'll look in the archives for the obvious stuff first ![]()
I do have one question about the OB thing that I didn't see in my browsing....
I've had the same GYN for about 10 years and I really do like her, but she only delivers at St. Agnes and I'm thinking I'd like to have the baby at GBMC. I know it's probably a smidge early to be thinking about hospitals (or is it?) but I know it can be difficult to find an OB as a new patient... so I guess what I'm asking is two-fold.. how do I find a good OB with privileges at GBMC and is it crazy to jump ship on my established GYN because she doesn't deliver at the hospital I prefer?
Thoughts? and thank you
Re: Newbie first post.. aaand I'm having a baby
Congratulations and welcome to the board. I don't have any recommendations for GBMC doctors, but I know several ladies on this board that do. Hopefully they will respond.
If your not comfortable delivering at St. Agnes then I definitely recommend changing practices. It's always good to start now looking for that doctor your comfortable with. Good luck with your search.

Welcome and congrats! I am also expecting, I am about 15 weeks.
I am not familiar with doctors at GBMC either, but there are some women on here that have gone there.
Have a great appt!
I switched to a new OB at around 12 weeks, partially because of the hospital in which she delivered. I switched to Charles Street OBGYN. Their office is at GBMC and they deliver there as well. They were recommended to me by a couple posters here as well as some friends IRL. Their phone # is 410-823-1120. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions, need any additional info.
I don't have any recs but congrats!!!
And no it's definitely not too early to start thinking about where you want to deliver. You want to make sure you develop a good relationship with the doctor who will be with you when you have your baby!
... every single day of forever.
Me too. I really like all 3 of the doctor's in the practice. Dr. Singh delivered DS in April. Plus they have late hours Monday and Wednesday which for me meant no missed work for my appointments!

Congrats and welcome!
I'm delivering at St. Agnes - at first I was little iffy on it, because in my mind it's this hospital from the 1970s that's hopelessly out of date, but I love my OB practice so didn't want to switch and then after seeing some of the new wings etc at the hospital I felt much better about it, and apparently the NICU is excellent there if it that becomes necessary.
But that said - I did consider switching doctors to switch hospitals and had I done so, I would have done it in 1st trimester but some women switch later than that with little issue.
Welcome & congrats!!
If you're definitely not comfortable with St. Agnes, you'll want to switch docs early. It'll give you time to get to know them & vice versa.
I go to OB/GYN Specialist of MD & my doc is Dr. Akman (he rocks) but I've seen most of the other docs there too. They have 2 offices, 1 in Lutherville just off the beltway at York Rd & 1 in Owings Mills (never been to that one). Here's their website:

Everyone is SUPER nice there.
