We are thinking about taking a weekend trip out to see my Gramp. He lives in North Tonawanda...would any of you have hotel recommendations for us? We'd like to be close to restaurants and maybe some family-type activities, but also convenient for getting to his house. Also, any suggestions of things to do with the kids while we're there?
Thanks!
Re: Can you Buffalo area ladies help me out?
Your best bet is probably the block of hotels right near UB in Amherst I'd think.. There is a whole chunk of them..https://maps.google.com/maps?oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=Hotels+Flint+Rd+Amherst&fb=1&gl=us&hq=Hotels&hnear=0x89d373ca83fae70d:0x6902b9d780985971,Flint+Rd,+Buffalo,+NY&sa=X&ei=riHTTsa9A6bi0QGX3M0N&ved=0CCIQyBM
Unless you wanted to stay in Niagara Falls.. I am not really familiar with any of those..

Yeah, probably the UB area would be good. Or there are some hotels on Niagara Falls Blvd in Amherst that would be close to both NT and the 290 (so you could get wherever you wanted quickly) My inlaws always stayed at the Sleep Inn when they used to visit (back when DH was in college, and we didn't have a house) They have an indoor pool, which would be fun for the girls. It's right near the Boulevard Mall and the major shopping area, so there will be lots of restaurants. There is also a Marriott and a Courtyard by Marriott (Marriott is always my go to hotel when we travel) Search hotels in Amherst.
As far as things to do- there is the Niagara Falls Aquarium, it's small but perfect for little kids. The Buffalo Zoo is open year round and there are some events for the holidays/winter if you check out the website. Explore and More would be great for the girls, but it's kind of at the other end of town. Probably about a 40 minute drive... so not too bad if you want to spend the afternoon.
