Pregnant after a Loss

Really..... It's day one and I'm already freakig out :(

So day one- again! It feels like it wasn't that long ago that I was just starting this journey. The only difference is, then I was naive!

I took a test this morning with FMU. I used a cheapie test. It was light, but positive. Fear started to take over. So I waited. Held it for 4 hours drank some water and tested again with a cheapie. Still light but still positive. So then I decide I need to test AGAIN!!!! This time I only wait 2 1/2 hours test with a cheapie AND a a generic store brand. Cheapie still says positive and store says no.

I know that it's still early and that FMU is the best to test with, but I did it anyway. And now I've freaked myself out. Maybe the cheapie's are bad? Maybe I intro'd for no reason? Maybe just maybe I'm just CRAZY!!!

I hate this feeling, I'm terrified of what I've already been through and of it happening again. I'm hate that I've let myself get this freaked out! I hate that you ladies might have to "put up with" me!

I know that you all have felt this exact same way. I just needed to get it out there! Thanks

  • Breathe.... It's going to be ok.  I say a line is a line and you have multiple tests with a line.  The store test was with barely held pee in the middle of the day. You were practically begging for a false negative.  If you are really concerned, call up your doctor and go in for betas.  Test only with FMU and then leave it alone.  Don't test again during the day.  You are only going to freak yourself out.

You are pregnant today and that's what matters.  Take one day at a time, breathe and hopefully everything will turn out ok!  It's ok to freak out but don't do it to yourself on purpose!

  • For the first week, my tests were light light light. Try not to worry! Mine were super non-reliable for a few days (like 4-5).  And my first test was at 12dpo.  The FRER was the only thing that showed up enough to see (for a normal person haha).
  • Take a deep breath, and put down the pee sticks! You're only going to drive yourself crazy. The darkness of the line depends on so many factors, like how diluted your urine is and the amount of dye in the test.

FWIW, I had an incredibly faint "is it even there" line when I tested with this pregnancy.

  • I kept testing, retesting, and testing again with good old wondfos for like 2 weeks after my first BFP.  We're all a little bananas or nervous or downright paranoid here.  :)  If you got multiple positives with cheapies, I would call that a positive.  One could be a bad test, but not likely the case with a few tests.  Tell that one negative test to F off!

  • I would tell you to put the pee sticks down, but then again I did the same thing!!!

I tested like 4 times 9 dpo... all pretty light. Then I reminded myself that it takes 48 hours-ish for hCG to even double, so I tried not to get myself worked up. I tested 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17 dpo... and finally I was satisfied. :P

Are you going in tomorrow for betas?

I know pGAL is hard, but a line is a line!!!! & today you ARE pregnant!

  • AF hasn't shown up yet so you are still pregnant, regardless if a test said no.  Like pps said, take a deep breath and put down the pee sticks.  Get some betas ASAP.  You are not bothering anyone.

I haven't talked to my OB yet. I'll call first thing in the morning ( after I test again with FMU of course). We never really discussed if thing would be different during early pregnancy "this" time around. Only that late pregnancy I would be monitored very closely and probably not go past 37w 5 d.

Good, they should be able to just send you over for bloodwork. If they don't offer, you can request it.

Also, if it makes you feel any better, despite what I posted above, I was a pee-stick-a-holic in the beginning too until I got my betas back as steadily doubling... In fact, even after that I took a few, with the last one being at 15 weeks. Wink

  • Agree with PP. Leave the Pee stick alone and trust cheapies. Equate both times here lol. Go to the Dr, give us an update. Faint still=PG :) T&P and lots of hugs! I'm on day 3 since BFP and still freaking out.

  • I had to make myself stay away from pee sticks!  I went into the doctor the next day after I got the positive test and had them start beta testing...that made me feel so much better.  I just didn't POAS any more after that!  I'm sure if you had a few tests say positive then the one negative test was either defective, or you just had diluted your pee too much!  FX you can get in tomorrow and get some blood drawn and start seeing those betas go up, up, up!!

  • At 13DPO with FMU, my cheapie was very very light (did not come up within the time period) and up until about maybe 17 DPO, took the full 5 minutes to really show up. Everytime I would pee and immediately look at it, and nothing, then I'd come back a little later, and a faint line. The FRER at this point was negative (was also store brand).

In my opinion, those cheapies work better than the store brand alot of times. Were you using digital that said no?  Digitals are less sensitive, so it won't show up on there as soon as it will on a cheapie.  Even if not, I think it shows up on a cheapie sooner in my opinion and experience from last time.

This is exactly how I felt, so I understand, I think you are def pg, just give it some time.

  • I totally relate. It's been 2 days since I got my BFP. I'm a mess. I have been poas like crazy and comparing and analyzing every line. I'm getting betas tomorrow hopefully, so that should help. Good luck to you. I think getting some b/w will help ease your mind.

  • Congrats on your BFP!! I know it's hard not to worry, but a line is a line (and you've gotten several of them). I'm sure the lines will start to get darker, and hopefully your OB can run blood tests, but all you need to know now is that today, you are pregnant. Hang in there (((HUGS))).

  • Put the sticks down.... Breathe and relax.

If it makes you feel any better, I was getting faint (+) at home, but at the doctor's office they were all (-)!  It took 2 weeks before it registered that I was pregnant.  Only the bloodwork confirmed it.

You are still early and the HCG is still trying to rise.  Stay calm.  Have you had a blood draw from the doctor yet?

  • Step away from the HPTs! They will drive you insane!

The dye can vary from test to test, the concentration of HCG can vary from test to test. I always cringe when ladies test with their HPTs everyday to see IF the line is getting darker. Just another way to make you second guess yourself. Sit tight, that baby is doing it's thing. :)
