Love it. We've moved with DirecTV 2 times, and it's been awesome every single time. DH wants to switch so we can have cable internet (instead of DSL through the phone co), and I'm like hells no.
We were happy with them while we were a customer. It wasn't until we cancelled (WAAAAAAYYYYYY past the 2 year contract date- we had them for 6 years in this house and DH had them before that) that we had any trouble. They tried to charge us all kinds of jacked up fees when we cancelled!
We loved them when we had them, but like AJ, we had issues when we cancelled with them last year when we were having money issues. They're still trying to say we owe about $600 in ridiculous fees that we can't find anywhere in our contract and have now sent that to collections...they won't even negotiate a smaller fee, so now unless we take them to court or cough up the money, it's going to sit on our credit
That being said, we absolutely loved them while we were customers. We're using TWC now and I hate the system compared to DTV!
Ditto. We signed a 2-year contract. Once our year-long promotional rate was over they jacked up our rate to almost $100 a month for BASIC CABLE (no DVR or anything) from it being just $30/mo before. And we couldn't do a thing about it because we were in the contract. We ended up cancelling early and had to pay $20/mo for each month left on our contract. I will never use them again. Horrible customer service.
We just got it installed a few months ago and it's been a HUGE headache. I wish I wouldn't have let DH talk me into it. It's been one technical problem after another. I'll record a show for the kids, then go to play it and it shuts off halfway through. Which OBVI makes them SOOOOO happy. My parents are having the same issue with their system in CA lately. We've had DirecTV out four times and they acknowledge there's an issue going on but pretty much shrug their shoulders.
Not happy.

I always feel bad when i see bad review, b/c we've never had them jack up our prices. I can count on one hand the numbers of times we lost service in Texas (during a storm) and I don't we've ever (here or there) had it not record our show.
It's quite possible we were in the just the perfect apex of southern sky in Texas and well out here we live way up a hill with no trees higher than our house.

Just an FYI I was with Dish for years through AT&T and I called because the price for new customers was cheaper and HD free for life. They let me cancel my account through AT&T and set one up directly through Dish. I'm only paying 65 for the 200 channels and HD. I have 4 tv's 2 of which have DVR.

We switched a few months ago to get rid of our craptastic Uverse and have not had a single issue or complaint.

Wow, that is exactly what they did to us!
