my story..may be joining you..longg

i just started having nsts done a month ago..baby was a little below average in weight so was being monitored for sga vs. iugr..nsts have been going well..last week came to l and d for bleeding after sex..found out i had a polyp on my cervix..put on the no sex list and also found out i was one cm and thick then..black friday morning was in a pretty bad car accident..thankfully the most injury was to my face..cuts and scrapes from glass, had to get a lot of stichting but hoping to heal fast even though as of right now i look scary...anyways..was takin to the local hospital where baby was also checked..turned out i was three cm thickie sorry for the lack of good grammar and spelling in this post but on a phone right now and it will not let me edit certain stuf..back to story..the monitor showed i was having some contractions which i didnt feel which the nurse said could be from dehydration had the fiber fibronectic test done and got a positive result..offered the steroid shot..took it..got to go home later that day called my  obgyn told her what happened and asked to set up second shot..she told me she would feel more comfortable with me being monitored in the hospital overnite and to come back in..i was sent to a different hospital earlier that day which was not my delivery hospital and my obgyn said if she was me she would have kept me in and never let me leave there in the first place..went back to the hospital friday night was checked again i was three cm and fifty effaced..monitor also picked up contractions which i didnt feel and i was given magnesium until my second dose of steroids yesterday..now have been feeling a lot better except i notice a decrease in movement some which im not sure is due to all the medicine ive been having go thru me hoping i get good news today and get to go home havent been checked since early yesterday and was takin off of monitoring last night..not ssure how much longer i have to go with this pregnancy..but wishing the best and hoping she stays put until december at least .cjdnot...

  • Wow, that's a scary weekend!

I'll be honest, I'm amazed they let you leave. At our hospital if they decide to do the steroids they keep you under observation until both are given to ensure maximum chance that you won't deliver. Are they sending you home on any anti-contraction medicine? Bedrest? I'd be very cautious if I were you. I was in the hospital for 4 weeks, so I definitely don't say it lightly as I hated every day there, but every day you can spend there and know that baby is okay is one less day of worrying at home.

Definitely take it easy if they let you leave. If they say bed rest, do it. It's no fun, but it's worth it if you can get that baby to 37 weeks at least. And especially after a car accident take care of yourself. Hopefully it was just the stress of the crash that brought on the contractions and they'll subside now that you can relax some.

Thoughts and prayers are with you!

This sounds wrong to me.  Is there any way you can get a 2nd opinion?  I know they don't stop labor after 34 weeks if your membranes have ruptured, but I didn't see that here.

Is there a reason they won't stop labor?  Did you ask them?

I'm sorry you are dealing with this.  Please don't be afraid to ask for a 2nd opinion though.

  • What an ordeal! Hope things work out. Also know that anything in the vagina (including blood) can make the ffn false positive. Again, hope LO stays put!

Ditto this!! I understand not stopping labor if you're 36 weeks, or if membranes have ruptured, etc. It seems extremely odd that they wouldn't stop labor at 33 weeks, though, if there aren't other reasons to deliver immediately. I know 33 sounds like it's "good" but 34.. 35... 36 make a world of difference.

  • The dr said they wouldn't stop labor because I got both steroid shots and babies born around this stage with the shots tend to do well..Going to the drs today for my regular NST and growth scan..also going to see ob/gyn after..looks like I'll be in the doctors office all afternoon..hopefully everything goes smooth and I don't get sent back to L&D
