Tell Me Your Favorite Brunch Item

in March 2012 Moms

We decided that our baby shower will be brunch and my MIL is asking for ideas so far I have:

Bagels and assorted breads (banana, short bread muffin)  with butter cream cheese and jams
Meat Platter- salomi turkey and smoked salmon with capers(for bagels)
Quiches
scones

Any other favorites you guys have?

    I love croissants! You could have some sweet and some savory ones maybe.

    Mini breakfast sandwiches might be a good way to go if you want something a little heartier on the menu. Or French toast sticks, those have been my breakfast indulgence all pregnancy.

    Yogurt parfaits are really easy to make for a big group - they look impressive and are a nice alternative to some of the other carb-heavy options. Look in your grocery's bulk food aisles (or Trader Joe's, etc.) for some flavored granola to fancy things up a bit. Any kind of berry works as an alternate layer.

    Mimosas and bloody mary's! It's just not brunch without them. And just because we shouldn't partake doesn't mean we should let everyone else suffer!

    I love some kind of potatoes with brunch. I make rosemary potatoes a lot. I just cube up potatoes with the skins, coat them liberally with good olive oil, salt, and a lot of dried rosemary. Then, I bake them at about 375 for a while. I let them cook a while until the bottoms get a nice brown color, then I flip them to brown a different side. I don't know how long total I cook them, but until they're soft and have some crunch. Delicious.

    I've been obsessed with french toast lately! Had it for brunch today and could eat it again for dinner :)

    I originally envisioned having a mid-morning shower with a Belgium waffle bar including various toppings such as fruit, whipped cream, chocolate chips, powdered sugar, etc. Though, that may be too much work if you're having it at someone's home. 

    My family had my shower this weekend and they ended up doing a lunchtime appetizer buffet. Not the brunch I wanted, but equally lovely!

    Thanks for all the ideas, my guest will most definitely be partaking in brunch alcoholic drinks!!!  And of course it will end up really classy with the keg we will have, granted we have a kegarator so its not like we wouldn't have one no matter what lol. Plus if you put an orange in your hef it makes it breakfasty right?
