For the last week, I've been getting sporatic muscle cramps right between my shoulder blades on the right side. I can feel it coming and it lasts only a second, but its painful! I find that if I feel it coming and I hunch my shoulders forward to stretch, I can keep it from peaking.
I've heard of lower back pain. This is new to me. Anyone else experience this?
Re: wierd cramp in upper back
I agree on the new bra, it can make a big difference. The upper back pain might also be just how you are carrying the weight, my doctor said some hurt lower back and some hurt upper back, just depends on how you are carrying the extra weight. I have recently started doing prenatal yoga, instead of my regular yoga and it focuses on back pain and has helped alot!

I've had it too. Mine gets so bad that I can barely sleep at night sometimes. I asked my doctor about it and she said it is more than likely due to the increase in breast size. I have good bras and it hasn't helped me a ton but maybe that'll work for you! My doctor said I should have DH lightly massage the area at night before bed then lay on a heating pad for a bit (just on my upper back.) I actually tried it for the first time last night and the combo worked pretty well.
This is the VERY first time I am posting (I can't believe it!) although I am a frequent and proud lurker (I check at least 10 times a day), but I had to chime in.
I am due February 14th with a baby boy, and about one month ago I began having the exact pain you are describing - shoulder blades and right side. Mine progressed though and began wrapping around under my rib cage. I also thought it was a too-tight bra, pregnancy aches and pains, etc. I went to my ob to make sure it was not a kidney infection because I have a history of kidney stones. It was dismissed as pregnancy pains, but I went back the following week (I was extremely close to going to ER) because the pain was excruitiating. I got sent in for a gallbladder, kidney and liver ultrasound. Result was I have either a gallstone or a poylp in my gallbladder. I wanted to share just in case it helps someone else explain the pain or ask more questions of your ob! I have curtailed my diet and zantac has been a life saver!
