Allergies anyone?

Are anyone else's allergies really bad right now? I don't know if it's allergies or my eczema or whatever it is I have but I'm literally itching from head to toe constantly and its driving me nuts. My allergy meds arent doing a thing for it! I was supposed to get allergy testing done, but then ended up being pregnant so they couldnt do it so I dont even know whats triggering it. I havent slept well the past 2 nights because I've been itching so bad that I can't fall asleep. It's making me miserable at the moment.

Have you talked to your OB about it? There's something called cholestasis of pregnancy that can cause extreme itching and it usually happens in third tri. I think it's something they have to keep an eye on, because it can affect the baby.

I'd talk to your doctor, as well. If there's a rash to go along with it, it could be PUPPs.

I would call your Dr as well. Is the itching everywhere or any specific places? With Cholestasis, it's usually on the hands and feet and seriously, nothing you do can make it stop. There's some other symptoms as well, jaundice is one (but I never had that). To test for it, they'll check your bile acids but that test can take a while to come back, a week or so. There is a medicine though to relieve the itching. If you google it, I think the information is scary, so calling your OB is a good idea if you think there's any chance.

Ditto PP. I would call your OB. Unless you have indoor allergies that can be triggered by heating the house, or something in your new house? or dust, etc seasonal allergies should have been killed off by the frost/snow.

My skin has always itched me since I was a kid-it just seems to flare up when something triggers it-every doc I go to tells me its something different so I really don't know what it is. I looked up the symptoms of both things mentioned and it doesnt sound like either. The worst spot is my legs-and thats always where my itching has been. Sometimes my arms-nothing on my feet/hands/face/breasts. My stomach itches here and there but I think that has to do with the skin stretching. I have an OB appt Friday so I'll mention it, but I think its this allergy/eczema whatever it is that I've had forever-just flaring up for God knows what reason right now

I actually have some itchiness that flares with pregnancy too. Starts at my inner thigh, near the knees and sort of spreads from there. Last time it spread to my arms nd a little on my stomach. At first I thought it was hives, which I have developed due stress/anxiety in the past, but then it flared during my period too, which is not something I find particularly stressful, so I wonder if it is just something to do with hormone surges and the like. My dr suggested Benadryl, but since that basically knocks me on my ass I opted not to go that route and stuck w. a good moisturizer and some hydrocortisone cream. It really sucked but I really wasn't able to get an answer

Oh good, I'm glad you responded and that it's a "normal" thing for you

Although I'm sure you'd be relieved for it to end!
