Sooooo sorry for this question..... Does the water get changed normally a few times during the labor? I'm totally sold on the benefits of water birth, but I just keep thinking bout how with all the pushing and straining I'm gonna end up in a poop soup! I know it sound silly and I swear this isn't m
MUD! Ill be seeing my midwife in a few weeks and will get more info then but I was just wondering.... And also if your water breaks while in the water, how can they tell if there is merconium(sp?) Or infection if you are in the water? Thanks in advance, please don't judge my stupidity!
Re: really silly question on waterbirth
I never thought I wanted a water birth because I thought, "Ew! You're just sitting in a soup of prebirth grossness!" Yeah, I ended up delivering in the tub. Like PP said, they fish out any ickiness. I was totally apologizing for it between pushes, ha ha! It was fine, though, it was not as gross as I thought it would be. Delivering the placenta (which I did in bed) seemed way grosser. I actually felt kind of clean after being in the tub- it washed off sweat and whatnot.
Oh, and, no, they didn't change the water, but I was only in it for, maybe 2 hours? They probably would have if I had asked and was willing to be in bed or the shower again for that long, but I loved the tub and did not want to leave it.
