trying to figure out a post dessert snack for turkey day & i saw a recipe w/ smoked salmon. it sounds good but i'm not sure if i can eat it & too lazy to do a lot of looking. probably won't make it anyway, but figured i'd ask.
Unfortunately its one of the things on the "don't eat" list. Which sucks because I LOVE lox.
However, there's so much controversy about those lists that who knows. My friend who is 20 weeks along was avoiding luncheon meat completely until her OB said "I never told you to stop eating deli meat." So now she's eating it like crazy.
My understanding is that we should avoid smoked meats and fishes b/c they are not technically cooked (only smoked), so they could contain bacteria. I LOVE smoked salmon, but I am avoiding it during the pregnancy. That said, it would probably be fine, but I just don't want to be worried.

I say use your best judgement. :-D
