They have wrist guard/brace type things you can wear that stabilize the hand/wrist area to keep you from exacerbating the condition. I know our physical therapists have given them to people. You can buy them from a lot of pharmacy-type stores and amazon. It might be worth checking with a doctor before wearing just to make sure they are what you need.
I got that for a day or two not too long ago... I found holding my hand up above my head for as long as I could relieved some of the pain for a short period of time. That and alternating ice/heat... rest of course. Take tylenol for pain if you can. If it doesn't go away after a day or two I'd talk to your Dr or midwife about it. Good Luck
I've heard it's fairly common during pregnancy. I had it a bit last time and had to make sure I was always angling my wrists right on my keyboard at work. Sometimes, I'd let one wrist take a break and type one-handed, which helped. As for immediate relief, I'm not sure.
Yup! I have it in both hands but my right is much worse. Gripping things has become very difficult, even when I sleep with a brace on my hand. My right hand will go numb, not tingly and falling asleep just randomly numb. I have DH massage my hands and knuckles. It really helps a lot.
I think I'll be typing out my shower thank you's and Christmas cards this year. There is no way I can write them out.
I haven't had this yet with baby #2, but I definitely did with our little girl. It stinks! I heard that wearing wrist braces helps. I tried to stop and flex my wrists a lot at work, too, to give them a break.
Take heart, though, this really did go away right after delivery. I was worried that it would be around forever and it really wasn't.

I had this bad with DS and I am hoping NOT to get it this time around. There isn't anything you can do except wear a brace and hope it helps. It reduced significantly once DS was born but I still had some of it for a few weeks afterwards
I had pretty bad carpal tunnel in my hands and wrists during my two previous pregnancies. Fortunately, the pain went away after I had my girls. I wore wrist braces at night and they helped. Also, stretching and massaging the painful areas was helpful.
Oddly enough, I haven't had it too bad this time. Just a couple times when I was typing into my phone while lying down. For some reason that gets my hands all tingly, so I try to avoid doing that now. Anyway, good luck.
