Re: Black Friday Brags?

  • I went out when R woke u at 6am (dh working). We hit Target first and I got 2 Leapster explorer games for $11 each, and they are the ones I wanted! On sale for $14.99 and I had 2 ($4) coupons! I had 2 from TRU last week that were BOGO, but they were games I didn't want and still more $.

I got an outfit at Kohls for myself and a couple toys for nephews, spent $50 so I got $15 KC to spend. I did go to TRU but didn't get too much, batteries and a Dr kit. He didn't need anything else! =)

  • Loading the player...
  • I work 11-9 so I came in at 10:30 to do a quick lap. I got some of the 3.88 board games, cheap match box cars (they are Ellie's poop in the potty prize). Extra iPhone charger for 10 which I have no idea if that's a good deal, but I don't need to bring it back and forth for work now. Then a 59 portable DVD player which I'm not sure we will keep or not. No crowds at all plus I get my extra 10% off so that's nice.
  • I didn't get anything too amazing but I got a set of king size sheets from penneys for $15.88. We went out around 4:30 and managed to miss all yr crowds due to stores opening early. We got to more stores than ever this year! But we skipped target, Walmart and TRU.

  • I got my SIL a knife set at Kohls reg $199, on sale for $99 and has a $50 mail in rebate so ultimately will be $49.  I ended up with $30 in Kohls cash with my other purchases so I'm pretty happy!

  • i went to tru and target last night and got pretty much everything i wanted

the only lone item tru didn't have, or said they were out of was, the 51" inflatable play ball- dirt cheap for like 27 bucks or something- i just bought one for our friends kids birthday, the 52 in i think, from hearth stone for $60

    what i did get was:

the kindle for 85 at target- picked that up for my mom to give to my brother & the $20 dvd player we wanted for our bedroom.

at tru i got a 2 of the playdoh sets and the lego storage unit that my mom wanted me to pick up for M. for myself i got M the b & d workbench and tool sets that were in the ad as well as one of the playdoh sets, moon dough stuff, batteries, a crayola fingerpaint easel case thing, the cars operation game

today i sent DH out to kmart to get the fp construction playset that was 50% off.

  • Got a few things.  1,600 piece lego set from Walmart for $30 shipped.  $4 for 30 AA batteries shipped.  6 pairs of different kind/size lined Crocs for various people for $74 shipped.  A Hot Wheels launcher thingy, 2 fancy Barbie sets for $37 shipped.  All from my livingroom.  DH did go out to PepBoys to buy 2 sets of $7 oil changes, and some fancy whole house surge protector for $20, normally $60.
  • Well, I have started my own black Friday tradition of going and getting my hair done. :). It's one of the only days when I don't have to work, have family available to babysit the kids, and my sister has a lot of down time at the salon so I don't have to feel guilty taking time away from paying clients. So I might not have gotten any big shipping deals, but a cute new cut, and some fresh highlights and lowlights all for the price bringing her some coffee isn't too bad! I will convince myself that I saved money because I probably would have spent a fortune if I went somewhere and paid to get my hair done. Plus, I feel like a new woman, so you can't beat that! I am considering adding a pedicure to my blacK Friday festivities next year! :)

For rebate stuff - don't you usually need the box barcode? So how does that work with gifts?

  • I went to Target at 4pm today and all of their door busters were still available which I found amusing. I got DD a memory game for $4 and thermal PJs for $5.

I went to bath and body works and got $110 of stuff for $50-so not too bad. Not sure who I'm giving it all too, but at least it's backup gifts if I need them!
  • We went to Walmart last night at midnight and got the xbox 360 with kinect for $199 with a 50 gift card-so really 149. DH could not wait for Christmas and has already opened it!
  • Only thing I got was the My Pal Violet for natalie for $11.47. 50% off at Barnes and Noble. I wanted to get it online, but it wasn't working so I went to the store.. it wasn't too too crowded (I was there at like 3pm). And it ended up being like a dollar cheaper in the store than it would have been online and i was out that way for a dentist appt anyway.

Eve wants a big lalaloopsy doll.. was there any deals on those that i missed?

  • I only went to two stores on my way into work at noon.  I got a $100 gift certificate at my hair salon for $70, which I will be using Tuesday to get a cut/highlight.  I also went to Michael's and got a bunch of frames for our gallery wall and some odds and ends for Evan for Christmas and it all came to $68.  There kids stuff was 50% off and then an additional 30% off with a coupon.

  • I got great deals at walgreens on thursday.  I got diapers, a razor, 4 9.99 toys, a $30 i tunes gift card for $43.

Yesterday my mom and I went to the outlets and there weren't specatular deals.  The reebok store was buy 1 get 1 free for NFL stuff.  We were able to get steeler winter hats for my cousins, dh and dad.  Yankee candle outlet had a great sale.  A big candle was only $11.20 compared to $26 in the retail store.

We will probably run to the mall this morning and see what else we can find

  • Eva and I stayed in our jammies all day and put away all the fall decor, cleaned and put up all the Christmas stuff.  I saved a ton of money!  ;)

I did however hop on amazon after she went to bed and got the Harry Potter 8 movie box set in blu ray for $69.

  • Meh.... I did ok.  My BFF and I went to the Waterloo outlets at midnight then back to Syracuse for the other stores.

I didn't get everything on my Christmas list, but I did snag a few things... and lots of cute clothes for me which I will probably wrap and put "Love, Santa" on the tag.  lol.  My BFF has two small LOs, so I mostly go to help her out.  She drops the kiddos off with her mom, then we hit the road with an ample supply of snacks, water bottle and coffee (although only a cup for me this year... it was tough!).  I stand in line while she shops around at places like The Childrens Place, Osh Kosh, Toys R Us, etc.  Then she'll wait in line for me at GAP, Banana Republic, etc while I shop.  It works out great for both of us and it's always a fun night of shopping and girl talk... Love it!

TBH, this year I wasn't super impressed with a lot of the deals.  Last year, I swear almost every single store was 50% off- the WHOLE store.  And you could use email coupons or rewards or AA or military discount or "give us your email and you get an extra 10% off" type stuff... combined.  This year, many of the stores were only offering 20 or 30% off... (heck, that's like an average weekend sale at the outlets)... and you could only use one "extra" coupon or code.  Needless to say, we didn't do as well as we did last year.  Oh well.

TRU looked like a war zone and there wasn't much left by the time we got there (5am... they opened at 9pm Thursday), so that was kind of a bust for her.  Target and Walmart weren't crowded at all (got there around 6-7am), but same thing... the deals weren't super awesome.  I guess they had a lot of great deals on electronics, but not much else.  And Walmart does their deals in small batches.  (A,B,C on sale from midnight til 2am then D,E,F on sale from 2am-4pm... etc)... that's crazy... what do you do... just stay there all night and keep checking out every 2 hours?  Weird.

Anyway... that was it in a nutshell (whew, that got long).  Still good prices, but definitely not as awesome as last year.

  • Not sure - there were no specifics about how the rebate worked when I picked it out but I do need the original UPC from the box.
