For some reason, whenever I see "Jax", all I think of is the phrase "jacking off". I don't think it's a good name.
Wow...really? It really comes from the name Jackson or Jaxon. Do you think that when you hear those names too?
I think it's the "X" that throws me off. Whenever that letter is used where it normally wouldn't be, it feels kind of scandalous (in this case, replacing "Jacks" which feels more intuitively correct to me)
It's clear that we have different naming styles, but to me, Jax is not "uncommon and strong." It kind of just seems like a little kid to me. However, it's a mn, so I say go for whichever one you want.
I can't believe that there isn't one single vote for the name Gavin Jax. Is it because it doesn't fit with Gavin or is Jax too edgy for most?
Jax doesn't feel edgy to me. I voted no because it feels like it is taking Jackson, which is trendy, and trying to make it unique. Edgy would be Thor or Zeus. Or Ajax.

Oh no, last time I posted edgy names on here like Zane, Zander, Axel, or Ryder people "didn't like those names because this board likes more traditional names" (in my best yuppie voice)
The names that I like would get way too much ridicule from this site, I thought Gavin was the safest on my list so I thought I would try asking about the middle names that way.

Im curious to hear the names you think would get ridiculed. Your childrens names in your sig pics are not "edgy" to me. I think they are great names.

Well aren't you just a little ball of sunshine yourself? If your style doesn't jive with this board why do you care what these ladies think?
P.S. As for Zane and Zander I think of them as nns. Axel is what my friend named her cat so that the first association I make. And as for Ryder I like it... it's really not all that outside of the box.

No, I like edgy and different names often. Jax is just not edgy to me. I know a handful of Jaxons under the age of 3, so it's really common. It also sounds like a cleaning product, Ajax. And while I love me some Jax on "Sons of Anarchy", I don't think it's a very good name for an adult or teenager.

While I would vote Gavin James on a random poll, I voted Gavin Jax for you. I think it fits your style better, and just think that James is way too generic for your taste.
However, I like some of the ideas a previous poster mentioned, and think that Gavin Ajax or Gavin Thor sound great!

Jax isn't edgy, its just icky. My sister in law named her kid Jaxon, nn Jax. Bleh. Jackson is bad enough, and to change it over to Jaxon just makes it 100 times worse.
James is a real name, and sounds better with Gavin. Gavin James is a nice strong, classic name. That's my vote for sure.

I think it's because the style of this board tends to lean more toward classic than....shall we say modern?
James is awesome.
Give it some time...you'll probably get 150 votes total, so you still have a ways to go here.
I don't like the Gavin Jax combo. Gavin Jackson yes. But Jax always makes me think of the character that is/was(?) on General Hospital. Sorry.
I personally don't think of Jax as an "edgy" name (that made me giggle when I read that). I think of it as a nn for Jackson.

I suggested Jax on your other thread!

I loathe all the "xxx" spellings of decent names.
