we're currently planning a family vaca to your neck of the woods, and i'm looking for activities my 3-year-old might enjoy. any tips? is there a good children's museum?
Yes, Pretend City Children's Museum in Irvine. Its literally a mini city for kids. It has a house, garden, grocery store, doctors & dentist office, restaurant, bank, beach and police station. Also an art area for kids to do crafts. Its $11 for adults and $11 for your little one. Your little one will burn so much energy being there. My little guy is only 17 months and has a blast each time we go. Here is the link. https://pretendcity.org/ They do not open till 10am though.
Pretend City is awesome! Your 3 year old will love it.
Lots of theme parks - Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm are the big ones. But, if you want something more low key and much less expensive (parking is even free), check out Adventure City. It's pretty small, but it's great for a 3 year old.
I hear the Bowers Kidseum and the La Habra Children's Museum are very fun, but we have never been. I thought my son was a little young for the Discovery Science Center when I took him just before his third birthday.
Re: toddler friendly activities?
Here's a list of some interesting things to do:
Orange County Museum of Art -- Free Family events -- https://www.ocma.net/index.html?page=families
Huntington Beach family events -- https://www.surfcityusa.com/events/default.aspx
