This is on our long list and DH and I both like it...but I am sure some people(*cough* in laws) will take it upon themselves to shorten to a NN. What are some possible nicknames for Seraphina besides Sara?
What nick name do YOU like? I am going to take it upon myself to dish out a nn for Charlotte. I don't want Char catching on lol. Does this name sound like Sarafina?
Seraphina was also on our long list. Unfortuntely we nixed it because we couldn't come up with another NN besides Sera. I wouldn't want to shorten a beautiful, unique name like Seraphina to just common Sara! Sorry I am no help but I feel your pain!

This name sounds like sara-feeena!
I don't really want any nn but what I really do not want is "Sara"....I can just see my inlaws destroying our name selections with NN.

Well, You chose Catherine which is the most wonderful, beautiful, and bestest name of all time. (Not that I am partial because it is my name spelled the same way haha) I also love Ruby but it would sound horrible with our last name!

FWIW, my name is Charlotte, and I don't think anybody called me Char. I had one friend and her family call me Charlie, but everybody else called me Charlotte, mainly because my parents never used nn's for me.

Thank you so much!! I put Seraphina in nymbler and also got: Sarina, Violet, Evangeline (love NN Eva), Ayla, Mila, Aurea, Amelia,
I would REALLY love to see someone use Seraphina! I am sure if you used it, you would come up with a NN that matched her personality! GL!
Serafina (the Italian version) is #1 on our list, and while we woud call her by her full name, we are prepared for/don't mind if people call her Sera or Fina.
Love the name. Personally, I would use "f" instead of "ph" BUT as far as NNs go...Fina, perhaps? I know a Serafina (she is Mexican) and we call her Fina. Cute NN but BEAUTIFUL name!
I don't think people have that much control over NNs. Once your child is born eventually she will choose what she wants people to call her. That is, unless you only call her by a nickname for her entire life (she may just get used to it and go by it only). My name is Christine. I went by Christy for a little while before I went to school. But after kindergarten started and to this day I go by Christine. If people assume they can call me Chris, Chrissy, Christy or anything else, I just tell them that I go by and prefer Christine. You can do the same for her when she's young. It's not that hard. But, your daughter may one day prefer a nickname that you don't like. It's really not under our control at some point, unfortunately.
FWIW I LOVE Seraphina.
TTC 10/11. IUI 2/12. BFP 3/8/12. 4/26/12 missed mc. RE consult 5/17/12. IVF #1 ER 7/13/12 53R, 41M ICSIed, 32F, 8 5d, 6 6d blasts - all PGD/frozen. PGD results 1 normal M and 1 normal F, 1 maybe M. FET 9/6, transferred 1 F embie. Beta 9/15 BFN. FET#2 planned for 11/2012 put off until 2013. Surprise BFP 11/21/12!! My son was born on 7/24/13!
FET 4/28/2015 - Transferred 1 M embie. 5/6/15 BFP!
Seraphine (french version) is #1 on our list IF we ever have a girl. Names we considered for nn's: Fee, Fiona, Sera (seer-a)...I love Seraphina just by itself though
Love this name but it's too long for our last name. Can't stand the name Sara and that was one of my fears. People always give a NN even if you don't.
this was the exact reason my mother named us "cory, cally, and hailey."
all three pretty much sound like NN and can't be shortened anymore. sometimes, i may get called "cal" but that is it. my mom thinks you should call someone by the name they are given. if you want to call your baby Ben then name him Ben, not Benjamin. that's just my mom though. she's a bit on the OCD/anal side. lol
People always asked me growing up if Cally was short for anything. I'd lie and say Callista just to get a kick out of it when they'd actually start calling me that! lol
