Recommend your double stroller

Hi ladies,

I'm looking for recommendations for a double stroller. I love the travel system we got for DS, so I'm definitely looking for a stroller that will also work with just attaching the infant car seats, but act as a regular sroller when they get bigger too.

Also, since we are going to end up having to get two new infant car seats (DS's was an Eddie Bauer and they don't make double strollers, so it's not compatible), any suggestions on slimmer models? I'm going to have to fit all three kids into my backseat. I have a crossover (volvo xc60), so it's bigger than most back seats, but not that big.

TIA!!!

  • We love our C.ity S.elect!  It's a great stroller and the babies seem comfortable in it too.

  • We got the Double Snap N Go Stroller, even though we haven't used it yet it seems like it will be the most convenient when they're little! :)

  • Most MoMs start out with a double snap and go (DSNG) stroller for the first few months - they are cheap, lightweight, and take many different brands of infant car seats. I got mine for $15 from a coworker of DH. Definitely something you can find used on the cheap. It also gives you a little time to figure out what you really want in a stroller - side by side versus tandem, all-terrain versus umbrella, etc.

My main stroller is the Baby Jogger City Select. If you buy the infant seat adapters for it, it can be used as a DSNG and then when the babies are out of infant seats, you can use the regular seats. I wish I would have had this from the beginning because it drives so much better than the DSNG. By the time I got mine, the babies were almost 4 months old and it wasn't worth it to buy the infant seat adapters.  It folds pretty small and while not the lightest, is lightweight compared to, say, a Graco Quattro Tour Duo or a BOB Duallie.

  • I've looked around a lot and decided to get the double frame stroller with the infant car seats, and the only one I found that's like that is Baby Trend.

Then, for when they get a bit older, we're getting the Combi side by side stroller.

  • We did a ton of research, then settled on the following plan:

DSNG for the first few months (babies being born in winter = not a lot of strolling anyway).  We got one free from a neighbor who has twins.

Then a Maclaren Twin.  We both have small cars, and the umbrella fold means it will actually fit in our trunks.  The Maclaren is THE lightest twin on the market -- some of them are 40+ lbs!  If we had larger cars and a bigger budget, I would have considered a City Mini double.  They fold so easily, maneuver so easily, and can fit car seats with adapters.  The canopies on the City strollers can't be beat either -- they have very full coverage, and the seats recline very far back for young babies.  Both the Maclaren Twin and City Mini are pretty skinny for a side-by-side; they fit through a standard doorway easily, and are the lightest of their kind.

  • We decided not to get the DSNG because we wanted to purchase 1 stroller that would work for the long haul. We decided on the Chicco Cortina Together Stroller. It fits both car seats without buying or installing attachments (we got the Chicco carseats) and then will work until we are done pushing them around. It got pretty good reviews on Amazon and I like that it isn't side by side (I like to go in to stores!)
