Trouble TTC

baseline question

It seems like a lot of ladies on here go for their baseline b/w and u/s on Cycle Day 3. My RE had me do bloodwork on Day 3, but is not having me come in for the femvue (to check fallopian tubes) and ultrasound until Monday which is day 8. They say they do baseline ultrasounds on day 5-9. Does this seem late? If the femvue is clear I will start on 150 mg of clomid, which I was taking with my ob on day 3-7 (though only taking 100 mg). It will already be day 8 by the time I start the Clomid. Does anyone else take their Clomid this late?

Re: baseline question

  • When I was on clomid I was only monitored cycle day 12-14. Now that Im on injectibles I have to get U/S day 1-3 and BW/US day 11. IDK that this is the case for everyone...

  • I do baseline on CD 5 (just u.s now although I did b/w for the first 2 cycles) and then a follie check on CD 13/14 and I took Clomid CD 5-9.

What do you mean you were given 150mg but are only taking 100?

  • sorry, I didn't word that very well. When I was taking Clomid before with my O.B. (which I now know what a big no - no) I was on 100 mg. My RE said since there was no response when he monitored mid cycle that this new cycle I'm just starting I will be on 150 mg. My question was that I used to take the Clomid on days 3-7 with the OB. And I won't be starting this cycle till day 8.... which seems kind of late?

  • Why are you going back and forth between an OB and an RE?
Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • I'm not. I saw an OB for my first three cycles before reading on here all the awful things that can happen when you are unmonitored. I then asked for a referral to an RE since I have PCOS even though it hasn't been a full year of trying. My first appointment with the RE was about 3/4 through the cycle I had started with my OB and he (The RE) could tell by my lining or ovaries or something that i hadn't ovulated when he did an ultrasound to see my ovaries. Took me about 60 days to get my period (needed provera) and now I am just getting ready to do my first medicated cycle with him. He is upping my dosage and if I get good follies I will do the trigger shot as well.

  • Yes, starting clomid on Day 8 seems late. I've only heard of it being administered days 3-7, 4-8 or 5-9. However, since you have a history of not producing follicles on 100mgs, perhaps your RE considers it possible to wait until CD8.

As far as baselines are concerned, they should be administered on CD2, 3 or 4, as the norms for the accompanying bloodwork were set on those cycle days, and can thus only be compared on those days.

  • I started off with clomid with my OB. I took it days 5-9 for two cycles.

Once I switched to an RE, we went straight to IUI since I had the two cycles on clomid already with no luck. When I take it depends on when I can get in...for the first IUI I took clomid CD 3-7 with monitoring appts on CD 3 and 10. This IUI CD 1 fell on a weekend and I had monitoring appts on CD 4 and 11 and clomid days 4-9

Day 8 does sound late..I usually trigger the night of my second monitoring appt if all looks well during that appt.

  • Do you think the later appointment may because of the FemVue? What day do they usually check for clear fallopian tubes? Does it matter?
