Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We got back from our trip last night and today I hit a few black friday sales. We had a great time. And luckily I got back and AF showed up!
I also came home to my blood test results from my physical. My Dr says I have extremely low Vitamin D. Normal is 30-60 and mine was at 13. So, me being super paranoid, I googled "vitamin D and fertility" and was shocked at what I found. There have been some studies in the last 10 years that link PCOS and ovulation problems to low vitamin D. I am just wondering if any of your RE's have checked you for low D or even talked to you about it. Im just a little surprised that my RE has never mentioned it to me before and why its not in the usual work up.
I know this isnt a quick fix and vitamins are not the answer, but from what I am learning, and plan to discuss in depth with my RE, some girls went on D supplements and starting ovulating again on their own and quickly. So I guess it cant hurt to try. Also, I found a few articles that said low D can contribute to MFI. Im really interested to hear what my RE thinks about this in my situation.
Here is one of the articles: What do you girls think?

Re: Hi ladies! (and a question)
It sure never hurts to take your vitamins! A vitamin D deficiency can have all sorts of effects on our bodies, so definitely do it.
I don't know anything about vitamin D and ovulation, but it's not like taking it will hurt. Your article sounds promising.
I'm always looking for natural herbs and supplements to help. Go for it and BABY DUST TO YOU!

Glad to hear you had a great trip!
When I first started my testing with my RE they did a whole bloodwork panel and I came back severely deficient, mine was at 7. I did some searching online as well and found the same information you did. They prescribed me a very high dose of Vit D and I was on that for 8 weeks, then they retested my levels and they were back within normal range. They now have me take Vit D + Calcium in addition to my prenatal vitamins.
Bringing my levels back up to normal range did not help my ovulation but its worth a shot. Good luck!

My RE suggested the Fertility diet and switching to full fat dairy instead of low/no fat. I cant stand whole milk, and dont want the sugar in yogurt. So I stick to cottage cheese and cheese. We did switch to 2% milk, but it is still to thick for me...I like skim!

As far as your initial question, I have no experience with vitamin D deficiency, but I do know that vitamins control an awful lot, so a deficiency anywhere can lead to problems throughout the body. As far as I know, your likelihood of overdosing on vitamin D is low as long as you are otherwise healthy (no liver or kidney problems), so I think you should go for it! Can't hurt, right? Good luck!
