Nursery.. Like it or no?

https://designdazzle.blogspot.com/2009/10/sweet-dr-seuss-nursery.html

DH reeeeeallly wants to do this for our girl. I can't put my finger on it...... But there is something I just don't like about it. I can't figure out if it's the colors, or the shades of colors, or what.. I keep thinking its not girly enough? I know, I know.. Ridiculous thought.. I guess I just always imagined a more cutesy girly nursery?  I really don't know. I want to love it.. Just  not sure why I can't love it. It's killing DH because he wants to start creating this ASAP. Am I being nuts? What could or would you change about this nursery! Or would you do it exactly like this?

Re: Nursery.. Like it or no?

  • I LOVE it! I've only had boys and this time we are team green. I've never been into boyish/ girly nursery and I honestly can't picture having a girl. I love fun primary colors and even though I'm not a Dr. Suess fan I love this.

Maybe you could make some more things pink like the panels on the dresser. You could also use solid pink and green bedding instead of Dr. Suess stuff or even a set at all. Most people don't use the stuff that comes with the set anyway. You could also add more characters that are pink or have pink backgrounds. I don't have any books in front of me but I'm sure I've seen plenty of pink in the art.

  • I like it! It definitely seems girly to me although like the PP said you can always make some more things pink! Very cute.

  • Personally its NMS.  I don't like character nurseries though...so I'm probably a horrible person to comment on this thread. lol
  • I think it's adorable!

  • I think the dresser is really cute, but like a PP said, I'm not a character sort of person (and someone that is all over the place with my nursery ideas). My neighbor is also doing a Dr. Seuss theme and found some cute decals for the wall that were of the Cat in the Hat.

  • I love it! Its different from anything I've seen so far. I think its unisex so I think its fine for a little girl. I've been looking at nursery designs myself  and even though I'm having a girl, I do not want to walk into a pink frilly room all day! lol

  • Cute idea.  I don't like the shade of green paint.  It's more of a grey green.  I like a more cheerful color in a nursery.

  • I don't see it as being not girly... but I don't like the shade of green for the grass and I'm not sure I'd do one book on the wall mural and then the dresser with another. I might just stick to One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. Oh, the Places You'll Go is not my favorite Dr Seuss book and not really a fan of it for a nursery (I've always enjoyed it as more of an older kid book - like a 5th grader graduating from elementary school), to be honest. If you use it, you could change around the colors a little bit... make the green a little more of a prettier shade of green - you could do Oh, the Places You'll Go in pink instead of blue? Have pink carpetting? You could definitely girl it up a bit more!!

  • I love it! And I think you make it more girly with bedding, curtains, etc.

  • I really like it!   But if you are not a huge fan - I'd ask your H why he likes it so much - the Seuss theme, the colors, etc.  you could incorporate some of that into the final nursery ideas.
