Jogging Stroller--How Old?

So, I know the reccomendations (safety wise) for infants in most jogging strollers is 6 months.

Have any running moms put their LO's in their sooner? My LO has very good head control at 3 months and if it continues this way, I feel he may be ready sooner than 6 months.

Just wanted to know if their are any other moms who have done this?

Re: Jogging Stroller--How Old?

  • Heck, I'm wondering the same question, just in a different way. I'm wondering how old a child will get to where they grow out of the jogging stroller? My ds is two, and I was considering getting one but I have no idea what age the typical child graduates from a stroller.

  • Our jogger has a car seat attachment and pedi said it was ok to run with LO as soon as I was ready, just to make sure to run on a smooth surface. To OP, most folks I know seem to stop running with their LO's around 4.
  • It isn't just about head control, the concern is also about the development of their back muscles. A better indication of readiness is if they can sit unassisted. So no, I wouldn't risk it and run with them before 6+ months. Unless you use a car seat adapter.
