Rec your phone plan

So I need a new phone plan and the name of the game is lets save money :)

DH and I currently have Verizon.  My contract is up (I was on my parents still) but DH still has another year on his. We don't want to stick with Verizon because it is so expensive.

We are trying to decide if I should get my own individual plan or if DH should cancel his (for $125) and we should get a new family plan.

Price wise, I'm thinking either T-mobile or Cricket.  Does anyone have these or other good plans? What do you guys think we should do?

Re: Rec your phone plan

  • It definitely depends on how important your phone is to you. Do you use it a lot for internet? Is camera quality important? I don't use my phone for anything other than to make doctor's appts and to text my SO, so I have cricket and it's only $37 a month.

  • I've had US Cellular since I was 16.  Dh and I have the Belief family plan.  We both have Blackberries and you have to have the internet packages (free texts/pics free internet, etc).  Our cell phone cost is $125/ month.  I get a certain % off through my job (not much though) and we have automatic payments and went paperless (so they took off 5% more).  You get so many Belief points every month...so you can upgrade your phone early or get free accessories.  I've never had a problem with them.

  • I have had Sprint since 1998 so I'm pretty loyal to them.  DH and I have a family plan that costs us about a $130 per month and that's unlimited everything (minutes, data, texts).  We both have android smart phones and use our phones for everything from pictures to work related emails so it's worth it for us.

  • I work for T-Mobile so I'm totally biased...but we have it and love it. We get really good coverage and customer service is the best - award winning! I am leaving my job to SAHM and are sticking with T-Mobile even though I won't have the employee discount because it is a good deal and you get the same coverage and phones (except iphone..boo) on it!
