Speaking of LeapPads etc... interesting article

A friend of mine posted this article a little while back. It's pretty interesting.  We're trying to find a balance of letting DS play with some "gadgets" and a bit of TV watching, while focusing also on physical play toys like puzzles, cars/ramps, building blocks etc. And reading!  In today's society electronics are SO integrated in everything we do we feel it's a good skill to learn, but I worry about too much exposure as well!

  • If you think about it, each generation has had their own crop of technology to learn with. It just keeps evolving with each new generation.

They lost my attention at Steiner. Any credibility this article had one way or the other flew out the window at that point. I hardly think that a group of educators whose philosophies include not allowing children to learn to read until they lose a tooth or use black crayons and teach children that a demon named Aroman lives in the tv and gnomes operate the machines make for a credible source.

Wow, hadn't heard of Steiner.... a demon in the TV hey? Crazy lol.  Some of the stuff in the article definitely was "um...yeah ok" but it was interesting at any rate ;-)  Gnomes in the machines, that makes me think of Discworld..
