kindle/nook ?s

Can you read either in bed with the lights out?

Any reasons to get one over the other? My DH reads before bed but he reads really random sci fi/zombie/post apocolyptic books (haha!) so maybe the books he would normally read aren't available digitally?

Re: kindle/nook ?s

  • I have the Kindle and DH bought me a reading light so I could read at night while nursing Audrey.  It works great!

I can't find the exact one on Amazon for some reason, but it clips right on the side of my Kindle and comes on when I turn the Kindle on, and goes off when I turn it off.  I love my Kindle.

  • the holder/case i have for my kindle has a spot to slide a light into it, and the light is bendy so you can adjust it. it also has two light settings- high and low.

my case is the a-frame kind not the book kind so it stands up, depending how i lay in bed i can stand it up on my chest and read

  • The Nook Color can be read in the dark without a light because it's an LCD screen. The basic Nook is e-ink, which requires a light. I bought one from B&N when I got my Nook last year. It's just a clip-on LED.

You'd be surprised as to what's available in ebook form. Best thing to do would be to check for the books DH typically reads at both sites to see if they're available.

  • I have a kindle and love it, I've had it for a few years now. You can't read it in the dark, but there's all kinds of lights you can buy for it, so you can do so.

I chose Kindle because I loveeeeee Amazon.

  • The Erie county library system also has ebooks for download, my husband has found a few there and I think he reads random stuff.  You can also download them if you have an ebook reader on your computer.
