wearing contacts during csection

Hi!  I don't usually visit this board so I apologize if this has recently been discussed.

 I am having a repeat c-section the week after Thanksgiving.  At my appointment this week the docter gave me a pamphlet to go over at home.  It says things like wash with a special soap before hand, no wearing contacts, no jewelry, etc.  The part I'm really upset about is the contacts.  My last one was a quick emergency c-section due to fetal distress.  As they whisked me down to the OR no one asked me if I was wearing contacts.  I had them in and all my jewlery on for the procedure and everything went perfectly.  My problem is I NEVER wear my glasses.  I got them forever ago and I hate them.  They have been at the bottom of a drawer for years getting all scratched up.  I wear my contacts from the second I get up to the second I go to bed.  I am going to be so upset if I can't see my baby clearly at first and if all our first pictures together as a family I'm wearing these horrible scratched up glasses.  I can't take them off for pictures because my eyes cross without lenses.  That would look even worse!  There was no problem with me wearing the contacts during the procedure last time.

 So... do I ask my doctor about this at my last appointment with her this week before the surgery?  Or just not mention it and wear the contacts to the hospital hoping no one notices or asks.  I'm afraid I'll bring it up with her and she'll say absolutely no contacts and then I'll be stuck  :-)  What do you think?

    I wore my contacts during my c/s. I was never told not to, which actually surprised me since I have had surgery in the past and I was told no contacts. The only reason why I think it was okay was because I wasn't put under general anesthesia. I wouldn't worry too much about wearing them.

    I think they ask you to remove your contacts in case you need to go under GA. You can scratch your corneas with them in. That being said, I wore mine into my c/s. I'd say wear them if you want with the understanding that if they do need to put you under, you run that risk.

    I will beg to wear my contacts. I'm definitely going to bring it up to my OB before my c/s. I had an emergency c/s last time and felt so out of control because of everything that was going on plus the fact that I really don't see well with my glasses.

    I wore my contacts during my c-section.  They didn't say anything about it and I didn't even think about it.  Just ask your dr about whether or not it would be ok.

    They asked if I was wearing them and I said yes, and they said I could take them out if I wanted but once I explained that I want to be able to see every little detail of my LO when they brought her out, they understood completely and let me wear them with no issues.

    I wore mine. I wasn't ever asked if I was wearing them or told I would have to take them out.

    If I were in your place, I'd plan to wear them and just make sure my husband knew I was wearing them so that he could tell necessary med staff in case I had to go under GA.

    I wore mine (although mine wasn't planned), and I think I even had my earrings on.

    I never recieved a pamphlet so I specifically asked if I could wear mine. They said Absolutely. I didn't have to wash with any special soap either.

    My c/s was "urgent" but I had my contacts in the entire time. I did have my jewelry out, but they made me remove that long before the c/s was in the plan.
