I usually just lurk here... reading all of your posts has helped a lot. Knowing there are so many people that feel like I do, and can put my feelings into words is very comforting...
Today I have a question though. I have read posts about laparoscopy results, and never knew what they were about. After more than a year of treatments, with the diagnosis as unexplained, I asked a new doctor if there are any other tests that I havent had yet, to see if there might be an issue. He asked if I have every had laparoscopic surgery, and I said no. He said that 50% of women with unexplained IF have endometriosis, and if treated can conceive naturally. I am wondering WHY this was not told to me at any time in the past year... Are there any signs that one might have endometriosis? If you have had the surgery, when, in this journey, was it done? I have done numerous iui's and one fresh and one frozen ivf...
The doctor I saw wasn't my regular doctor, just the one in the office, so he wouldnt tell me if this is something I should do. He said I need to talk to my regular doctor. What would you do? Would you have the surgery if you were me???
Thanks, in advance, for your advice!
Re: endometriosis
IVF #1 with ICSI - ER 1/20 (16R, 12M, 10F), ET 1/23 (1-10 cell and 1-8cell transferred), BFP on 1/31 Beta #1 on 2/3 = 68, Beta #2 on 2/6 = 261 EDD 10/12/12
I had my lap a few weeks ago. I got mine because my AFs were getting unbearable (like 2 days off work and 2 vicodins at a time to cut the pain). They found endo and also a fibroid.
Ditto, UK. Mine was bad pain and mild endo but a lot of women have no pain and bad endo. It doesn't always go the way you think. Do you have any spotting before AF? Pain during sex? Etc? They can be signs of endo.
OMG! Spotting?!?!?! I have been reading up on this, and havent seen that symptom... I have been spotting since MONDAY and still no full flow, but the dr confirmed my negative on Wednesday...This happens ALLLLLLL the time too!!!
I am so annoyed right now because I have told both my gyn and my RE about my spotting, and long periods, and pain when I have sex, and NO ONE told me to go for this procedure!!! UGH!!!!!
I had painful periods, bad back pain, debilitating cramps on the first 2 or 3 days of my cycle, heavy periods, and so it was thought I had endo. Had my Lap done after 15 months of TTC and it turns out I do have endo!
I say yes, this is something you should look into. If anything it will give you more answers.
