Austin Babies

Am I the only one that wants to share the craziness that is their family?

Or their SO's family?

This year, we are with DH's family. So far:

We have 7 pounds of potatoes for 6 people.

I've poured out one glass of my MIL's (trying my best to keep her from getting too drunk too early. It's a problem.)

And my FIL just took the buttermilk that expired 1 month ago out of the trash (where I threw it away) and  poured a glass. I might be sick.

Anyone else?

  • We're with my family and so far so good. But it's still early Smile

  • We rebelled this year and skipped all family.  It was just me and DH, and it was perfect.  I highly recommend it!  Although I'm sure we were the hot topic at my sister's (where the rest of my family went) all day.

  • Thanksgiving is usually just us at our house. Meredith got grabby with the rolls right when they came out of the oven and now has a 3 inch burn across the inside of her wrist. Alex refused to nap today, and he was literally about to pass out right before we plopped him down at the dinner table. He then screamed and refused to eat anything other than rolls and juice. Zelda (golden retriever puppy) stole part of Alex's dinner from the table, so we put up the baby gate and locked her in another room and spent the rest of the meal listening to her yelp. She then escaped and tore part of the leftover turkey carcass apart and ran off with it.

We don't need relatives to have craziness. We are the crazy.

  • I just noticed that the old family photo with German SS relatives has now been framed. ::buries face in hands::

Im thankful for Xanax that I've squirreled away for occasions like this.

Awesome. It's like A Christmas Story come early!

    That does not sound fun!

  • Now Alex has a second wind. He's run around the living room shrieking, jumping, climbing on stuff, and then followed it up by biting my arm and trying to pick my nose. Really, we aren't fit to socialize with normal people.

  • Well I was told to "shut my mouth" and yelled at by BIL then my DH almost hit him because of that. Great times over here. I am on my 2nd xanax for today. Yup and this is about my 10th one since I have been here. I have also gone into the bedroom and cried calling my mom 2 times. Yup I am a big baby on Xanax.
  • Thanksgiving went well until my SIL/BIL were packing up to head out.  My BIL was holding his 1-year-old really terribly (like, he was holding him laid out, but only really holding one leg because I think he was going to put him down?) and the kid squirmed out of his dad's arms and fell to the tile floor.  SMACKED his forehead on the floor and instant swelling/black bruises.  OMG, it was horrid!  I felt sick.

Other than that, all was great!

  • Our thanksgiving has been shockingly sane. However, I still have another two days here... So the honeymoon will be over soon, I'm sure.

Oh honey, that sounds truly miserable. I'm so sorry!

  • My MIL has left the door open every time she's gone to the bathroom. When BIL told her she needs to close it, she said that nobody should be looking in. o_O She also decided that the top of Campbell's cozy coupe was the perfect place for her cigarete butts.

Does she drink like my MIL? Bc I'm not sure how to explain that behavior otherwise.
