do you have your baby in a hat inside?

When we first came home from the hospital, I kept her in a hat every day.  But really, they are a pain in the neck.  They always fall off or fall over her eyes.  We keep the temperature in our apt at a reasonable temperature, but I worry about her losing heat out of her head.  however, she has a lot of hair to keep her warm - lol!

also - aside - last night, I laid her down on our bed and laid down beside her just to let her stare at the ceiling (she loves to do that) After a bit, I put her on her tummy.  Then I got up and pushed down on the mattress near her to push myself up.  so she had a bit of a help, but she rolled over! My husband and I both looked at each other in shock! Like I said, the push on the mattress gave her a bit of help, but she did the rest.

  • I only put a hat on her when we go outside.  They're such a hassle and her temp seems fine.

  • I have been told that wearing a hat inside is actually not recommended if your house temperature is reasonable.  It's the main way to thermoregulate and it helps to avoid overheating, which is a SIDS factor.  If their body feels warm (feel inside their clothes), they are definitely comfortable.

  • No hats unless going outside. They always fall over his eyes and then he screams bloody murder. I have to take them off in the warm car too, because they always fall down and for some reason, even if he's sleeping, he will wake up and scream the second the hat falls over his eyes!

  • She hates hats no matter where we are.  Her jackets have hoods and so does the bunting I put in her car seat, she's much happier with those.

  • We did that in the beginning until we discovered that he's too warm. Now there's no hat anymore and he's a much happier baby!

  • Our baby care class said no hats after the first 2 days so we've ben sticking with that. We only use hats when it's cold enough outside that his ears might get cold.

  • No, we haven't used a hat since the hospital.  I'm sure we will when it's get colder here, but only outside.

  • I never used hats inside.  Most of the ones we have still don't fit well and he screams bloody murder any time you try to put something over his head (onesies, shirts, hats, etc).  I keep the house around 70-71 and if I'm wearing a tank top, I figure he's fine. I haven't even been putting them on him all the time to go out (the temp here is still fluctuating majorly).
