No interest in sitting?

Hey Ladies! I hope everyone has a great thanksgiving!!

Just a quick question if anyone is around....V has no interest in sitting up. At all. Like none. He wants to move, roll etc and will only sit very briefly with his hands down at a time. Then tips over, no balance. He does not straighten his back and try to "sit up", etc. I'm worried and just looking for other mom's experience.

He is rolling all.over. and gets around pretty quick that way. He gets on all fours, rocks back and forth and lots of push ups. He loves jumping and moving in general so I am hoping it's just a lack of patience issue and nothing more serious.

I know I can't compare babies...but...there is a little girl at daycare two weeks older than him and I was shocked the other day because she was sitting up, playing with a stacking toy in front of her, no problem. Didn't even look unsteady at all. Sad  I was all, "How did you get her to do that??!!"  Ugh.

Re: No interest in sitting?

  • I think sitting is one of those things that varies widely between kids.. I think since he's doing all the other things, i wouldn't be too worried about it. I think 8 months is the set "milestone" for sitting anyway.

Natalie sits (although not that steady yet) but hardly ever rolls and is nowhere close to getting on all fours.

  • B's PT told me that 6-8mths is the typical range for unsupported sitters. My twins are 8 mths today. Nat has been sitting for over a month and B is thiiiis close. I know it's hard not to compare but you gotta stop or it will drive you insane.

Having twins is a compare-a-thon but it's teaching me that each baby has their own pace and specialties. I was so worried because Nat has so many more teeth, could "say" 3 things, sit up etc... the other day B just zoomed by her in an army crawl! Moral of the story- I'm sure there are things that moms look at V and think (or will think very soon) "why doesn't my baby do that?".

  • Thank you!! I appreciate the feedback! It's so hard not to compare the babies...I just need to let him go at his own pace. Safe to say "patience" and "sitting still" are so not in our immediate future anyway. This little guy has a motor...that is zooming all.the.time. Wow.

    Happy Thanksgiving!
