How long were you at 1cm dilated?

Curious how long you were at just 1cm dilated? Dr started doing internals on me at 32w because of several reasons... at 32w I was long and closed, at 33w I was 1cm dilated and was also 1cm dilated this week at my 34w appt.

With my other 2 pregnancies I made steady progress each week (granted they didn't start checking me until 37w). With DS I remember being 1 1/2cm dilated and 50% effaced at 37w, 3cm dilated and 75% effaced at 39w, then I was induced at 40w 3d. With DD I was 1cm at 37w and head was really low, 2cm at 38w and I went into labor on my own at 39w where I was 2.5-3 when I arrived at the hospital.

So, I'm just curious how common it is to kind of "stall out".

With my son I was 3cm dilated for three weeks and ended up going a full week overdue. With my daughter I was a fingertip for two weeks with no change and again went a full week overdue.

I asked not to be checked till 39 weeks. Obsessing over 1cm is really not going to do anything for you, because it could mean something or it could mean nothing. Why are you getting checked so early?

I was 3 cm dilated for almost a month with my 2nd. That was the earliest they checked me then.

I have been at 1 cm for 3 weeks on Friday. I was at 1cm for almost 7 weeks with my last pregnancy.

I was 3 cm dilated for almost a month with my 2nd. That was the earliest they checked me then.

I'm being checked because I'm high risk. First it was placenta previa (which has corrected itself), then it was an accessory lobe (which has turned out to be not an issue), then I had bleeding and was hospitalized for 3 days and given steroid shots for the babies lungs because I'm at a higher risk for preterm labor--then I was put on bedrest for over a week until they were sure the bleeding had stopped and then I talked my OB into letting me return to work (because I sit anyway). I felt quite a bit of pressure in my bottom so I had her check me.

i'm 39 weeks and haven't dilated at all so be glad that you've dilated at least a bit =/ i'm so uncomfortable and have had so much pressure in the lower regions and thought i'd at least be dilated to 2 however according to the dr still closed. happy thanksgiving everyone!

I was fingertip dialated at my 35wk appointment. This week at my 38wk, I am 1cm. I don't anticipate much change next week. We will see.

I give this the side eye. Patients with previa should not be given internals at all. Plus, you have two other kids, you should know that internals tell you nothing.

with DD I was 2 to 3 cm for at least 3 weeks 2 days. they checked me at 38 wks and induced at 41wk 2 days. i haven't been checked yet....probably monday but i'm not getting my hopes up.

It tells my OB if I'm in preterm labor -- When I had bleeding that's the first thing they did. In addition, I realize it has little bearing on when I'll go into labor, however it reassures me that these contractions are doing something. I see dilation/effacement as a nice "headstart" when I do go into labor. And, an ultrasound confirmed that the placenta is now 2.5" away from my cervix so I'm no longer considered to have placenta previa-I was given an internal AFTER this.
