so if you remember when you last shopped there if they asked you if you wanted one free issue of a parenting magazine. well even if you say no apparently they still sign you up if you pay for your purchase with a credit card. i got a twenty dollar charge for a magazine on my acct. called the company they say they deal with it all the time with motherhood. apparently they use your credit card and sign you up anyway. i am pretty pissed as i just purchased a ton of stuff from them. looks like old navy it is for maternity wear.
Re: motherhood maternity shoppers beware!

It's one of the reasons I hated shopping at MM- they were constantly trying to sign me up for stuff, and all I wanted to do was pay and get out. I never went back after that first time, I was that annoyed.
it goes on thirty days after purchase.
I've gone there three times and was never asked once about a subscription to a parenting magazine.
Maybe it's a local or promotion only going on in the states?

I just bought something there yesterday and I read the receipt and it says you have to cancel the subscription...even though they just say you're going to get one free issue. So I'm definitely going to cancel ASAP.
Also, for those of you who haven't shopped there before. You can always refuse to give them your info when they ask. Then you won't have to deal with being signed up for anything.
Me, too - especially when all of my maternity sweaters shrunk to belly shirts after one washing during my first pregnancy. Talk about a waste of money
When I checked out, they asked if I wanted to sign up for stuff. I told them No, thank you. What does the charge actually say on your statement? It's been 3-4 weeks since I went. Thanks!!

I knew about this and only pay with cash there. I think it is funny that I didn't even get my one free magazine. It is such a scam!

I've done 90% of my shopping there and paid by credit every single time. They've never asked me to sign up for anything, and I've never had an additional charge on my card before.
I'm sorry that you're having so many problems with them.

I went to Motherhood over the weekend to pick up a few items and paid with cash. The cashier (who also was the assistant manager) told me she was going to sign me up for a free issue of Parenting magazine, and I told her no, thank you. I also told her that I'd read online that people were getting charged for it even though they didn't agree to subscribe. At that point, she admitted that she and all the other employees at this particular store know that it's a scam, but they have to continue to offer it.
